This video was made of win.

I got the beta of the game and I've never seen a sexier 2D version of myself. I AM ONE SATISFIED COSTUMER - but dun tell me mums.
I don't think it was laziness, per se... I think it was more of the fact that he probably didn't know ya'll spoke Japanese fluently, and it'd be akward to drum up a conversation about the proper articulation of japanese alveolar phonemes in an AMV..Kionon wrote: just griped mainly because Fizziks didn't ask me or someone else that spoke Japanese (perhaps niwatori, who is Japanese), or hit up jisho.org. I'm thinking though digital distribution. I don't think this is the kind of game that could be sold at your local Wal-Mart.orybellino wrote:i want kawaii girl !!

Thanks for the comment! I agree that the voice recording could have been of better quality, but considering I didn't even use an external microphone or headset mic (I used the mic built into my laptop), I think it turned out okay.Otohiko wrote:That was fun! My only complaint with it would be the sound/voice production (i.e. the recording quality/clarity) - it was pretty iffy, although in a way it also added a kind of "ghetto" charm to the proceedings. I do wish you could've improved on that a little, even just processed the voice somewhat not to sound so, well, headset-mic-like...
Otherwise, once again, seal of approval for bringing in gamer humour into AMVs.
Thanks man!Animated wrote:Epic win is EPIC.
It was definitely a lot of effort, but judging by the comments I'm getting, I think it paid off well.Cxeisse wrote:5/5- I haven't so simultaneously amused and disturbed in ages.![]()
The most impressive bit is what a wide range of talents you had to pool together to make this: editing, voice-acting, scripting...
Glad you liked it, and thanks for the help! Oh, and the game after Left 4 Dead is Empire: Total War for the PC, which in my opinion, is one of the best strategy games I've played this year.Flame-X wrote:I thought the pronunciation thing was intentional because that's what made it funny. But hey, anime girls can be "scary" you know.![]()

Other than that little goof up there, I think it's innovative, enjoyable, and hilarious. Well done sir. I give you 5 thumbs up.
By the way, what's that game after Left 4 Dead?
Thanks!Kitty-Galia wrote:Haha, nice ))

Kowai = scary, if ya didn't know XD
StrawberryKiss wrote: Firstly, 5/5Epicness
Secondly, yeah I'm also a stickler about pronounciating Japanese properly (It did sound like kowai o-o)...But "Scary Girls" could also be fitting in this xDD Excellent voice though.
Scary girls can be hot too!Laerium wrote: Yeah, I kinda noticed that too xD
Though, awesome job on this, I laughed hard
Thank you!~MimS~ wrote:I don't talk Japanese so I don't really care about your pronounciation : P
It was great

I used the "run-away" sound from the old Final Fantasy games. I thought it was quite fitting.SJCorrectet wrote:nice "run-away" sound effect. highlight for me.
Not too daring, though. Very mainstream org humor, haha.

Kionon wrote:RE the Japanese issue, I am sure it wouldn't have been such an issue if it wasn't my second language after English. Since it is my day to day "stuff" language (go buy groceries, use Japanese, go to the bank, use Japanese, pay phone bill, use Japanese, etc), the pronunciations were, as I said, painful to me. Just like heavily, heavily accented and mispronounced English is. So for me, it definitely detracted, because in those instances, it was like nails on a chalkboard. I just cringed. If, as MimS said, I did not speak Japanese, I probably wouldn't have cared. Or even, like others, found it funny. I'm not overly concerned, I just griped mainly because Fizziks didn't ask me or someone else that spoke Japanese (perhaps niwatori, who is Japanese), or hit up jisho.org. I thought it was a little bit of laziness when it is so clear he was anything but lazy everywhere else.
Admittedly when I made the video I never intended to pronounce those words 100% correctly, since I wanted that Western "swagger" in the voice. However, I didn't really expect that I would mispronounce those words so badly. Languages in general have never been my strongest subject, so I have this odd feeling that even if I was told the correct pronunciation, knowing me I'd still screw it up.Code wrote:I don't think it was laziness, per se... I could agree with that on the aspect that if a real company here tried to make a game like this they would definitely pronounce everything all wrong in their trailer, so the whole irony aspect would fit great. Unfortunately, however, that clearly wasn't his intention which does slightly degrade from the enjoyability of the video. Albeit I'm terrible at Japanese pronunciation so it didn't bother me any. This was hilarious and creative great job.Shinnie04 wrote:I also hate it when Japanese words aren't pronounced correctly but I actually thought the mispronunciation made this funnier.Kionon wrote:I thought you did a great job with the effects and the concept was great. I laughed, the masking was perfect. In general, definitely a keeper.
However, your mangling of Japanese names and phrases was pretty painful. This is a legitimate gripe I feel because you could have looked up the pronunciations or asked someone. Remember that in Japanese names and words, there is no stress/unstressed syllables. All get the same, equal stress. You also dropped the second i from kawaii, and kawai is something else entirely.

Thanks for the comment! Although, if a real company did make this game, particularly with the kind of artificial intelligence in this game that can learn and react to whatever you say and do, then according to scenarios in movies like The Terminator, it could eventually gain sentience and kill us all.bladedude101 wrote: I could agree with that on the aspect that if a real company here tried to make a game like this they would definitely pronounce everything all wrong in their trailer, so the whole irony aspect would fit great.
