Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

SH Remasters Project done; remade On Your Mark vid from DVD

If you've ever downloaded a SH video and had a reaction along the lines of

and wished that the video and audio didn't look and sound so much like dirt from bygone ages so that you could evaluate it properly, this post may be for you. At long last, the SH remasters project is finished, covering a grand total of 109 AMVs and things that are not AMVs, most in this catalog but a few also available elsewhere.

The main idea was to reprocess everything that had MPEG2 or Lagarith masters available, but was available smaller than master resolution or with bad audio (essentially, everything done between September 2001 and September 2005, which is more videos than it sounds like) into 640x(appropriate vertical size) two-pass XVID with 192Kbps mp3 sound. This is, of course, obsolete now, but for stuff made from the formats of the time, plenty sufficient for both good quality and small filesize.

The following videos are available on local in remastered versions.

The following videos are available indirectly in remastered versions. They are not locally hosted for various reasons, mostly inappropriate content or for being demo videos. Download at your own caution.

I Got Rejected From AMV Hell....

There are also remastered or in some cases just republished videos available on http://insomni-ack.blogspot.com as noted in this thread. These are usually either live-action or not-AMV in some other way that keeps them out of the site catalog. Highlights include:
--
SH008 - breakout (the "lost video")
INSO01 - homebound
that Night of the Living Dead prank from 2005
INSO05 - Fate of the Family
INSO06 - ...entferne ich mich mit dir
INSO13 - condition 33 -- original version of the track that went into

Additionally, and this is kind of the point, SH038 has been reprocessed using DVD footage, which now exists for On Your Mark. This is the first re-direction (only source, rather than in a bunch of others) video on this title from DVD; the other six or seven that exist are all still complaining in their information sections about upscaling Dimension Video's old encode.

This is a straight remake of the original with basically no additional monkeying like the SH005/SH097 remake. If desired, I'll build a straight encode of the DVD version of the original music video to put on the proxy entry () -- either MP4 as per the above video, or Lagarith/uncompressed for someone else to encode into something with higher fidelity or more future-proofness. This is being offered because I'm not sure that you can just go out and buy a US DVD with some Miyazaki movie on it and get On Your Mark in the bargain; if this is the case, of course, offer's pulled.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.
CHOPWORK - abominations of maceration
skywide, armspread : forward, upward
Coelem - Tenebral Presence single now freely available
