  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

This is a very sentimental video to me. It's also probably the shortest video I'll ever make, clocking in at just under a minute and a half. One of the reasons for its short length is due to the highly specific nature of the song, making matching footage difficult. Even that much required the perfect short story to make my idea work.

Nothing too fancy in this video, very short and simple with focus on the meaning behind it.

On a technical note, there are bits of stubborn interlacing that I wasn't able to get out. I suspect it had something to do with how the original dvd was encoded. In any case, I don't think that it's worth spending hours of frustration on, so that's how it is.

Anyways, enjoy the video. Comments are always appreciated. :`

very charming video, but too short really. i think a full length video on that topic would be possible, it would just require more time spent on finding different side stories from different animes that match.

anyways

That's adorable. =D

I think there was some issues with quality, and it was too short.

Other than that. <3

The thing is, I used the chorus here, which has specific lyrics in itself. The rest of the song is even MORE specific. I also haven't come across any other anime that came close to matching this... and even this one I had to stretch a little.. I think trying to use more of the song would have only resulted in a lot of scenes that "kinda sorta" matched and multiple stories that became less clear.

If I got the message across in this length, then I accomplished my goal here. In this way, I think the short and sweet approach works best in this case. :)

Thank you for the comments, though. I appreciate it, and I'm glad you liked it regardless. :)

With a theme like this there's a fine line between being soulful and melancholy and just being soppy and mawkish, but I think that you've come down on the right side of it. The developed style of the art helps in that respect, giving the scenes a bit of weight rather than just being light fluff from a more conventionally-styled anime. That said, the main character's bulbous head is a bit distracting, but that can't be helped...!

One small criticism to make is in the credits at the end - it's a little hard to read them against the complex backdrop. I would have made the text bolder and white there.

Hahah, I know. He's certainly not the most attractive guy around, I admit. :`

Thank you very much for the insightful critique, though. :)
