AWA15 VAT - Expo deadline - one day left (Aug 21)
AWA's Exposition Contest, basically an anything goes free-for-all with regards to video art, has a deadline rapidly approaching in less than a week from now, August 21, 2009. As with the other contests, register your entry at http://www.awa-vat.org. After registering you'll be allowed to request an ftp account or you can mail in your entry physically. That's it.
A wide rage of formats are allowed, but the closer you adhere to the basic guidelines at http://www.awa-con.com/index.php?page=86#general the easier it will be to process and more likely to appear as you intend on the big screen.
Any questions you have should be sent to vattechnical@gmail.com

Less than a week out and we're at a surprisingly low number of entries. If you're planning on a last minute entry, please reconsider and at least register the entry early. You can return to the entry later to request your upload account for the weekend. The better idea we get of the grand total number of entries the better we can plan for judging and whatnot.
At the very least sign up for your account early. They are manually reviewed and approved, so don't be surprised if there's a delay between your registration and the account being usable for logging in. And if you're using an old account from years past, please make sure you can remember the login. If you can't, use this opportunity to get it reset before the last minute.

How do you feel about opening/closing credits? The only mention in the rules that I can find is on the entry form, saying not to list "intro/outro music".

By process of elimination, one could assume that the requested exclusion of intro/outro music sources would imply the permissible inclusion of said intros and outros.
The straight answer: yes, permitted. We will only generate bumps for the awards discs to be shown in main events on Saturday afternoon.

But you left out two very important factors:

What about older videos? I submit my newest one, but I also have videos that I would like to show again. They were already part of Expo and Pro last year. Are they allowed too?

Good thing I sent my 2 entries.

Oh yeah Sean, one of my expo entries is my Old School TV Project video. I think after 3 years, I was finally tired of not being able to premiere it.The Wired Knight wrote:Damn, almost forgot about this, better upload my entry.

Older videos are fine, but (and this really should be explicitly merged with the main rules) we don't accept videos that have previously competed at AWA nor do we permit a single video to double up on contests in the same year.
