Les Paul dies at 94.

Post by Tono_Fyr » Fri Aug 14, 2009 10:48 am

Probably the most important man in modern music. We wouldn't have multi-track recording without him, or tape delay, or a pretty decent (and extremely popular) line of solid-body guitars.

Micheal Jackson dies and people are crying in the streets bu when someone trully important bites it, no one notices.

Exactly what I thought. Michael jackson may have donated A lot of money to charity, and he should be honored... but honestly most of these "mourners" who honor his name are just jumping on the "michael jackson is dead, be sad" bandwagon. But a man who influenced much of what our world is today dies and I haven't heard a single thing about it.

I've never really had much direct appreciation for the man as a musician, but I'm a gigantic fan of his guitar. It's the only type of guitar I've ever owned and so many of my favourite musicians have played it. It's positively a benchmark of guitar sound for me.

I'm not one to make comparisons to MJ, but to whatever my music interests hold, LP has definitely been a much bigger influence.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Look, Multi-Track Recording. Basically, that means having more than one track to record with. Do you no understand how utterly important that has been to music over the pas 60 years? Virtually ever musician in the world uses that method (it should be noted that we video editors are affected by this idea, as well). You can't say anything so grand for Micheal Jackson.

And that's not even taking his extremely popular guitar line (which is rivaled only by the Fender Stratocaster) into account.

Exactly. MJ was just a dolled up, overhyped idol that kinda lived in the shadows since he released Thriller, Les paul ACTUALLY impacted the world.
