My guess would be that a Pro video would be one that had previously won an award elsewhere, and that Novice would be for a first-time editor.

I think his question, though, is whether Pro and Novice are categories separate from Comedy, Action, Drama, etc.

Sorry for the delayed response to your questions. I haven't had internet in a week+ because of traveling and moving into a new place during new college semester time. I will talk to our AMV girl and get the answers for your questions as soon as I can.

Will you email the creators once you've received? I get paranoid easily.

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been keeping up on this thread more, I've been pretty slammed with work lately. I'm thrilled to be hostessing EXPcon's AMV contest for a second year, so I hope I can answer some questions.

As for the 'Pro' and 'Novice' questions... All videos are Comedy, Action, or Drama, these are their categories. They can also be labeled Pro (if the video in question has previously won somewhere) or Novice (if the editor has never won an award) in addition. Therefore, a video could be a Novice Comedy, or a Professional Drama. A Pro Drama video would be in the running for both 'Best Drama' and 'Best Pro'. I hope this clears things up, I know it's a little confusing on paper but when it actually comes down to judging, it works out very well.

RolltheStampede, there will not be a Novice award for every video type and a Professional award for every video type... The listed 'categories' were actually intended as proposed awards, that was a little flub in the description, sorry!

ShadowExia00, there are no limitations for what kinds of effects you can include in your video. As for category, yes, you can leave it blank (IE not calling it Comedy, Action, or Drama) and the judges will classify it how they feel suits it best.

Onibakun, I don't have access to the videos as they're sent to Ryan Sweat, but if you're very concerned about making sure it was sent, you can send him a follow-up e-mail to ask. But please be patient with him, he's the con chairman so he's very busy right now. I don't actually lay hands on the videos until they're handed over to me, to pass on to the anonymous panel of judges.

I'll be keeping up with this thread a lot more often now, so if you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Did you manage to get my entries? I never received an email stating that they have been successfully downloaded.
