I liked it. I don't have any great problem with literal sync, but there wasn't even all that much of it in here and most of it was pertenant. The curtains bit might have been a bit much, but sometimes what can you do right? Even if the song had some kind of metephorical meaning behind it, it's not always necessary to have to go that route. He told the story well, and I thought it fit the music fine.

Thank you all for the positive input and criticizm. I'll try to dial back on the flashes in the future and to not be so literal with the lyrics.

That asshole? The other day, he came up to the dockyards to see the picket line. We asked him to help but he just turned around.

This was my favorite action vid at AX, my only real complaint is I wish it had subs during the spoken parts. Great work!

Of course he did, he's got his position to think of. Lapen's giving this place a bad name.

Well he is bucking for a seat on the House of Lords, and what a snake pit that place is...

...on a related note, please tell me you two have seen Brassed Off.

The song drove me nuts, but I'm not going to let that bias my opinion of the video.

Overall, it was edited ok and it was a nice profile of a character that doesn't get too much love. Could have done without the lip sync and a randomly thrown in bad aspect ratios (don't think I missed them :P) but overall, not a bad video.

You should've entered into drama at AX though, not really a full on action video.

But yeah, overall, not bad.

Thanks for the input.

Yeah, I think I did the best with what I had. It's tough not being able to have the footage from DVDs to work with, had to make do with RAWs on the webiverse. Also, since it seemed like it was an Action/Drama video, I literally had to flip a coin to decide which category to file it under. In the end, the AX AMV staff had the final word, and I trust they also kept it in Action for good reasons.

I am still just an amateur at this, and this was my first full-blown serious AMV compared to my other "Hell" type spoofs, so getting a verdict of "not bad" and having my first full AMV be accepted into two contests is really an honor beyond words. This and everyone else's videos have inspired me to do better and more next year.

Great AMV  I especially like scene with the train.

On the other side it seems to me at some points a bit random but that might be caused by that I havn't watched this anime yet.
