I hate winter.

(1) It's freezing, and I hate being cold.

(2) It's gloomy. The skies are always gray, and gray skies depress me. I miss the crisp, clear blue of spring and summer, the warming rays of the sun as they fall upon my skin, the gentle touch of the grass, and the delicate caress of a warm, gentle breeze.

(3) It's impossible to drive when the snow kicks up.

The best part of winter is when it ends. Well, that and Christmas. I enjoy Christmas, the giving and the receiving of gifts as well as what it stands for (being nice to people, not the religious stuff). Despite how crazy my family can get, I do like Christmas. ^_^

Um...

What Christmas stands for IS the religious stuff...

Anyway, it's kind of funny how I can go outside when it's snowing with a T-Shirt when it's snowing, however I can't go outside when it's dry, and brown without a jacket.

Christmas is not really a Christian holiday. In fact, it's only been celebrated since the early 1800's, to my knowledge, since it was viewed as the pagan holiday it really is for centuries before that. Like Easter, it was co-opted into Christian beliefs as a way to lure pagan followers in.

Something I hate about this winter is how one can be snow blinded. You definitely need sun glasses if you want to go anywhere. Walking down the road, and then the sun comes out from hiding behind clouds and Pow! You can't see a thing, since you are actually being bombarded with sunlight from all sides. 8)

I'm originally Alaskan, born and raised for 18 years, so I have icewater running through my veins. I love the winter for the cold and dark and snow, though I can't stand the sun at all anyways. Alaska is really crazy about the light/dark thing, during the summer solstice, there are 22 hours of light a day and the 2 hour "Night" is more of a twilight, where the sun goes down, and then comes back up. The winter is on the other side of the spectrum, with only around 4-6 hours of dayight and then 18-20 hours of night. Hell, it can be fun if you're used to it. and it really isn't as cold in the Anchorage area as some people think, its only aroung an average of 10-15 degrees on a normal day in December there.
