I'm originally Alaskan, born and raised for 18 years, so I have icewater running through my veins. I love the winter for the cold and dark and snow, though I can't stand the sun at all anyways.

Alaska is really crazy about the light/dark thing, during the summer solstice, there are 22 hours of light a day and the 2 hour "Night" is more of a twilight, where the sun goes down, and then comes back up. The winter is on the other side of the spectrum, with only around 4-6 hours of dayight and then 18-20 hours of night. Hell, it can be fun if you're used to it. and it really isn't as cold in the Anchorage area as some people think, its only aroung an average of 10-15 degrees on a normal day in December there.
