1 & 1/2 Kara no Kyokai+OSI videos for the price...

Commendable effort in making an AMV set to OSI, of all bands. I thought I was the only one here who’s a fan of Kevin Moore’s Chroma Key and OSI projects. “Blood” is a great song and you definitely captured the mood from the anime. However, I felt there were too many fade-to-black scenes, especially near the beginning. But there was some good pacing toward the middle and end.

Personally, I preferred the second video, Price In Blood. It was going really good and I loved the transition into the heavy guitar riffs, where everything started to get more intense. I wish you would have finished that video but I know the song is just too long and there isn’t enough footage to really work with. It’s still great to watch.

Overall, these are both excellent videos, though you kind of have to be a fan of this style of music to appreciate them.

The part between 3:57 and 4:17 in Only Silence is deliciously synched! It's actiony but still kind of subtle, and it doesn't throw off the pacing of the whole video.
I've only ever seen the first movie, and this make me curious again.

Do it, the series is definitely worth watching, especially if you thought the odd/slow pacing of the video was a highlight rather than a bad thing here (I like to think it sort of reflects' the series' pacing). I have my reservations about it, but overall it's well worth seeing.

Only Silence. I really really love the slower pacing in this. I like that you're giving us time to absorb what is going on and get the whole mood together. People don't seem to do that enough these days, freakin ADD. Also the music is excellent and matches the sauce very well. Indeed it puts me in the same kind of "mood" that CKY does, I freakin love the atmosphere of this vid. (also thanks for turning me on to this band, I'm going to give the whole album a listen through tomorrow at work)

Price in Blood. Disturbing, makes me go ._. Though I was all FUCKYES at around 1:30 or so.

Again, happy that you thought the pacing was a good rather than bad thing You'd better listen to more OSI. It's a bit oddball but well worth the attention. It's gradually grown on me over the last couple of years to the point where two of OSI's albums are in more frequent rotation than anything else for me.

2nd video, I not seen this series nor had any idea about it I'm too stuck in my high school romance fetish to care lol but... well love the video, but it makes this series look like another generic CSI/ Psycho crapfest WHICH is overall what the video is about. SO you sorta' kinda did an awesome job at presenting me crap. Thank you.

I really liked the changes you made in Silence, though I do think the rock floor/running scene is a bit too long. But you already know I like it so eh.

As for the price in blood one you used my favorite movie in the series so... props on that. I do think it could have been punched up a bit... more blood perhaps? I think for people who haven't seen this one you're story might have been a bit confusing and I would have loved to see more twisting... to really show how screwed up crazy she got but overall I enjoyed it. Loved the ending on this one. Actually... I think the ending was the best parts of both of them, you really know how to close on a high note. Good work and good to see you editing again

I didn't actually make that many changes since the last beta, though your feedback still really helped! And I agree, the 3rd movie is my favourite so far (with the 2nd being close second), which is why I focused on them so much in both these videos.

And yeah, well, i figured I'd close on a high note, especially in the case of Only Silence which obviously requires a bit of attention and commitment for the viewer, so hey, at least there's gotta be a payoff for it!

Only Silence was very nice. While I'd say the more actiony scenes could have been edited better, the other parts were all nicely done. It was also interesting to see Kara no Kyoukai used with a song with words, since I haven't seen a good one like that before.

I really need to hurry up and buy this anime before everyone has made a video with it.

Haha, yeah, I'm actually surprised that this hasn't quite got to the point of being overused. At least I'm really enjoying the KnK videos out so far and hoping there's more soon. And it's actually a big compliment from my standpoint if you thought the slower parts were a highlight

You already know I like it, although I still hate the singer. But to those who say they like the mood but not the blurs/fades I gotta wonder WTF. The blurs/fades to a large degree ARE the mood. Either way, nice job, few can do atmosphere like this.

I like to defend my music choices but then maybe you have a point - Kevin Moore isn't really a singer and was not originally intended to sing in OSI, but then it was decided to go on and use his scratch vocals as the actual vocals on their first record, and things went from there. I personally like them, but it's certainly a subjective matter.

Otherwise thanks a lot on all your beta feedback, it saved me a lot of time in managing the finishing touches on this video.

I watches Only Silence and I was quite suprised I really liked it even though it was rather slow paced and there wasn't too much editing going on, or so it seemed. You somehow managed to give each scene from the anime a nice little slot so it was able to affect the viewer the way you wanted it to; and it really worked in my opinion. Very moody and very gloomy. Thumbs up.

Wow Otohiko, I think I already said that but it was long time ago and it cannot do no harm: Sheep is one of the most rewatchable AMVs I've seen, ever. In 2007 I didn't spend a day, and then a week without watching it. This one and Magic Pad got me entertained the whole year!

I've actually been working on subtitles to go with Sheep for the non-Russian viewers lately, just for the heck of it, and I'll be sure to let you know when I get those done. Might add a bit of entertainment value to the old workhorse or something.

I just fnished watching Only Silence and it's far from being as rewatchable as Sheep, I wouldn't want to watch it again now. But that doesn't make it a bad video, I'd even say it makes it a better one. Because of the emotions it suggests, it gives a hard yet enjoyable time to the watcher. It's painfully slow paced and has some poignant images but still it's beautiful. You played well with the colors, starting from an everything red that suddenly changes to a peacefull blue only to finish on this depressively frigthenning red again. The song has that post-rock touch that makes it perfect to this video.
You almost apologize for the "simple" editing, yeah you're right you should have reversed the colors at some parts to ruin the entire feeling! Sometimes, simple is art...your video is definitely art to me.
Also, you're right, this can't please anyone, but man am I glad I could enjoy it!

Thanks, actually that's a very comforting comment to me. I've been kicking myself a bit for making such a purposely un-entertaining video, but I'm glad that even as a one-time thing it makes an impact. That's probably the best feedback I could get on that.

Price of Blood is also fine for an unfinished video. Great breakdowns and few effects that emphasize the emotions we get from these images. Damn that seems to be a sick anime!

Haha, I hope I didn't go too overboard with the violence there - I would certainly call the anime extremely dark and violent, but not necessarily sick. Unlike a lot of similar types of titles, I actually didn't find the use of gruesome content in it to be totally tasteless... which I'm not sure I can say about this video however

Anyway, I like Price in Blood. It's got a nice feel too it, and it has that adult twist I enjoy ever so much. If you need off-site hosting, you've got a spot on my server, as long as you want it.

I really enjoyed Only Silence when I saw the beta, I just couldn't think beyond that at the time. The fades and stuff didn't bother me at all, they felt very well placed and helped set me in the mood of the piece.

Likewise, I'm really pleased that someone other than myself and Orwell is already a fan of OSI around here. That's still sort of my main motivation behind AMVing - I'm always ashamed to see favourite artists of mine without AMVs in the catalogue, so I try to fix it - especially if, like in OSI's case, the music is very visualization-friendly (imho). I'm glad I've now at least piqued a few people's interest in it - honestly, OSI's 1st and latest albums are in constant rotation for me. It took me a couple of years to get into the band completely, but I can't get enough of it now. It's certainly an acquired taste though and I can see why there hasn't exactly been much in the way of OSI AMVs lately. Glad you liked these!

I very much dig In Silence. Killer atmosphere. It really gets you into the video with the slower paced action, dragging your interest slowly towards it. Great editing in this video, and the song is awesome too! Great Job!
