Alright, and please don't take me for biased as I'm hours away from releasing my own 5-minute Kara no Kyokai video (>__>), but let me lay it out as flatly and concisely as I can...
Good points:
-I like the song/anime combination, in principle.
-You have a good understanding of internal sync to instrumentals when needed - the solo towards teh end is a good example of it. I actually quite enjoyed that part.
-Some interesting scene choices in the action parts.
-Definitely an honest effort at first video.
Bad points:
-Terrible visual quality - bad compression, wrong aspect ratio, unnecessary letterboxing
-...on top of it - terrible filters/effects, unnecessary blanket colour shifting to blue, weird use of text in one place
-Poor organization and pacing. If the video starts somewhere, then it ends pretty much nowhere - the song fades out and you freeze a frame. Not very satisfying. Noone asks for linearity from AMVs, but there is a lot of scene selections which are either a) random, or going from...
-...b) bad lyric sync. A lot of the song's potential is wasted by either not using lyrics at all, or using them in a banal fashion
-And finally, for such a dynamic song, a lot of scenes are simply too static - there is a fair amount of long, motionless, undramatic filler. I can see you saved the best scenes for the end, but on the one hand you're losing the audience's interest by keeping it static, and on the other - you know, there's always motion and other tricks to make static scenes not seem so static.
I don't like telling people "well, it's okay for your first video, good job, NEXT" - I don't think it matters which video of yours it is. But I just have to admit that there's lots of purely beginner-type errors here. A lot of them are easily fixed. Start with improving your visual quality and compression, and in editing - throw out the unnecessary colour and noise filters and focus on pacing and scene selections instead. These two things will take you further than any other aspects of editing. That's my advice for next time.
All the best and thanks for making this though.
