It is my goal at AX to win a category with an underused anime. I will continue to make amvs of underused anime until the day I accomplish that goal...or until the day I actually like an overused anime more than the underused animes....

Ladies and Gentlemen, Michael is having a total frakking noob moment.

Apparently I thought that because Premiere Pro handeled all the mpg files from last year with no problem it would be the same this year. Au contrair. It is refusing to accept any MP4 files. SO those finalists who submitted MP4s, if you happened to have a DV.Avi, MOV or huffy of your vid would it be possible to get you to link me to a copy of it in that format? otherwise I need to find a way to make Virtual dub convert them to DV_AVI. and i have forgotten how to do that. I got kinda spoiled last year I guess.

Any input is most appreciated. If you know how to make V-Dub accept it or know of a tutorial for it that I have been unable to find please point me that way.
Sorry for this guys. I will fix it ..it just means I won't be as ahead of schedule as I thought.

If you use Virtualdubmod, use directshow so long as you have the mp4 codec you should be able to convet it into what you need

If this doesn't work for you, a long-winded (but sure-fired way) to handle this would be to use YAMB & DGAVCDec.

Basically the process would go like this:

1. Extract the raw H.264 (I'm assuming they're H.264) streams from the MP4 file using YAMB.
2. Open the raw H.264 file in DGAVCDec.
3. Save a project to create a .dga file.
4. Import the .dga file into an AviSynth script.
ex. Paste -> AVCSource("FilePathofDGAFileHere") -> into a Notepad file, and save as .avs
5. Open the .avs file in Premiere.

This method requires AviSynth.

Free. I use it for MP4s (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC) all the time. It has DV AVI NTSC & PAL output settings - though I don't use them so I know nothing about them.

Import formats:

Export formats:
PMP AVC, MP4 PSP AVC, MP4 PSP ASP, MP4 iPod, MP4 iPod 640, MP4 iPod Touch, MP4 iPhone, MP4 PS3, MP4 Xbox 360, MP4, AVI, AVI DV PAL, AVI DV NTSC, AVI Hardware, MPEG-2 PAL, MPEG-2 NTSC, MPEG2-TS, MPEG2-PS, FLV, MKV.

I use this to render my finished files. I make Lagarith video file and a WAV audio and combine them in Xvid4PSP at whatever bitrates I need.

Not accepting mp4 because of the video container? or the video codec used within?
If its just because of the video container, can you just demux the mp4 and take the sound and video out?
if its because of the video codec.. well i duno, depends on the video codec used then get the appropriate decoder and convert!

My video didn't make the cut this year, but grats to all the finalists! Also, thanks to the judges for their hard work viewing the many many submissions. *Wonders how many days it took*

Loved ur video at FanimeCon! if it counts, i voted for you i believe you won something as well. i think judges drama 1st, but i don't remember. my memory is hazy

Holy crap!!!! I actually made it in! I thought my video was too light to make it into the finals. YAY!!!

Congrats to Ben (and Bryce). This will be the first year at AX where I can actually relax and enjoy the contest because I know I don't stand a snowball's chance in hell against your video.

I wouldn't be so sure Brad , you never know how the audience will react. maybe they hate Mac OS 9
I actually love system 7.5.1. Thats the one i had back in the 90s still miss it.

Speaking of snowball's chance in hell, everyone else in the contest must bow before Rider! I'm putting my money down for this video to take it all - Best AMTV-Pro, Creators' Choice, Judges' Choice, Staff Choice, Audience Choice, Best of Show. It'll be the biggest landslide since the Kevin Caldwell era. If AX has any integrity, they'll start giving out the director's chair again, just so Rider can have one. She certainly deserves it.

If the reaction is the same as Fanime, I would have to agree. This was an amazing video. Very enjoyable.

overall i'm very pleased that Lord of the Anime made the finalists. i admit i am bummed that It's Tough to be a Host didn't make it. the comedy's better be good!

When I read the list of finalists late Sunday night, I quickly scrambled to contact both Brad and Ben whom I met up with at Fanime.

Congratulations to everyone who made it into the finals, I'm looking forward to a great contest. I suspect the competition is going to be very good this year.

I'll echo what Brad and Ben have said about Lord of the Anime, nicely done!
