A-KON 20 VSE: Deadline - May 3; Entry extension (UPDATE)

Ahhh, the deadline totally slipped my mind

If you entered your video for submission into the system, then you still have a week to get it to us. May 11 is the final cut-off date.

Has anyone else been having trouble viewing their submissions on the "My submissions" part of the A-KON Video Contest page? I've e-mailed support and they replied saying they had it, but I still for the life of me can't see my project or its status, even right after I uploaded the form over a week ago. It says that I have no submissions. The suspense is killing me.

Also, about the categories. If the A-KON staff think it belongs in a different grouping, can they change it? Or am I even allowed to change it at this point in time? Reason I ask is because my video's more of a Drama/Action, and some of the people I've shown it to believe it to belong more in the 'Drama/Romance' category instead of "Action/Horror".

Mine is working.. It just still says "Pending arrival" When I had already uploaded my AMV's to them...

My AMV that I am sending.. is more of an inspirational AMV... but I dont know where that would follow under...so I put it under Drama/romance

Today was the last day for video entries. Within the next couple of weeks and during the judging panel, we'll be going through them all verifying playability and double checking everyone's information for the title cards/screens. If anything seems odd, we'll be notifying each creator individually.

If you uploaded your video without any problems then we most likely have it, but we'll try to update the "status" on your Submission Page. Also, if you feel like changing your category please do so before we review them. We do on occasion re-classify videos if we feel they are more suited to a different category than what the creator originally labeled - especially if we have many more videos in a particular category than another, just to help balance things out.

Finally, if there is any questions, ideas or comments for the A-kon VSE staff, you are more than welcome to post them here and I will pass them on.

Yea, I never did get the combined categories thing you guys do. If you're still up on ideas to spread out your funding - how about splitting the categories up?

Years ago A-kon used to do seperate categories, just like everybody else. But just as the "quality" of AMVs evolved over the years we noticed that you simply couldn't categorize videos into one particular style. These groupings are simply a way for us to keep thing simple, both for presentation and cost (it's become increasingly more expensive for trophies & prizes). Every year is an experiment to try something new to improve the contests. Maybe one day we might try seperate categories again.
