Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Definitely an enjoyable watch, and I can see the parallels one might draw between this and Time Waits For No One/The World Moved on, but that doesn't mean it's not a different video. It is certainly similar, but I'm sure it was a matter of inspiration, with the final product being something that evolved from those two. Only two gripes from me, one is a personal thing, and I absolutely hate those goddamn old film filters, they're cheesy, distracting and I find that they rarely add anything to a video. Second was the water droplet/ripples at the beginning of the video, again, somewhat personal, but I thought they were also distracting and didn't serve to benefit the video.

Other than that, as I said, I really enjoyed watching it, while the pacing was fast for the song, somehow that contrast really clicked for me, so good job.

Even though it's called "old film", I don't feel that it used here to make the video seemed aged. I'm not savvy on any AMV theories about it but I do know that this video wouldn't be the same without it, so it must be contributing something. Filters are too often used arbitrarily and I doubt this one was.

That said, there are many effects in this video and everyone has one or two they don't particularly like whether they were used well or no. Personally, I feel that the negative frame width flips contributed nothing to the immersion except to break it and that it would be much improved without them. Still, I don't know how many would share my complaint the same way I disagree the filtering was unnecessary. Video effects can be a nasty business and you'll rarely please everyone, especially with a video like this one. But, the fact that it has so many effects with so little complaints about them means they were very well executed for the most part. Awesome job.
