Favorite Trance/Techno Songs

Post by ultimateX021 » Mon Jan 12, 2009 11:21 pm

Setting aside my other thread at the moment, I decided to start a thread on music not alot of people listen to. I've been listening to different genres and this is one of my favorites. They just give me a feeling each time I listen to them.

To start this off, I would like those who listen to trance/techno music or have heard one from somewhere and liked it state the following:

1) The name of the song and the artist
2) the album (Optional if you don't know)
3) What is it about that song you like? The Beats? Tone? Its meaning? the Artist? Other?

So, here's my first post to begin this thread:

My favorite trance or techno song is Heroes by DJ Tiesto.

The album it came from is Parade of the Athleteswhich isn't too bad. A warning to those who like lyrics following trance music because this album has no lyrics. It does have some great instrumental tracks though.

Heroes reminds me of heroism. The feeling of tackling anything that gets in my way. Of course, there is no lyrics, but the beats keep my feelings going and going. They even get louder in some areas of the song.

Agreed!

Also, Pendulum - In Silico, the whole album. It's all good!

Lots of great rhythms and shifts in the music. Some songs start off nice and easy then kick it up several notches. Lyrics make it very interesting. So many excellent pieces of music on this album.
If I had to pick favorites out of this album to make this a selection of songs: Showdown, Different, Propane Nightmares, The Other Side, Mutiny, Granite, and The Tempest.

note: Hope you have some powerful subwoofers.

Nostromo selected some tight songs for his AMVs. Glad others love some of the trance and techno songs used.

Sounds great, but what trance/techno song(s) do you like and why?

Not a whole lot actually. I am a fan of earlier VNV Nation though. Kingdom is probably my favorite EBM/Industrial/Whatever song.

There's a lot of high quality trance out there.
For me the best Dj's are Armin Van Buuren; Tiesto; Marcus Schulz; Abobe & Beyond; Paul Van Dyk; Solarstone; Blank & Jones;
Ferry Corsten; DT8 Project; Solarstone

All of them have very powerful female vocal tunes. I think i have nearly 20 GB of trance in my HD so i know quite a lot about it.
I once uploaded a personal compilation of "my favourites" of about 560 mb rar. if someone is interested ---> PM

I personally enjoy like a kid when i listen to those, but the playlist is normally quite bigger.

Pendulum is D&B(Drum & Bass)/Breakbeat, it has nothing to do with Trance or Techno, only the fact that both are envolved in "electronic" music.

Anyway, i love many tracks by them. So as Sounds of life, Plasticworld, Hold your colour, Streamline, Fasten Your Seatbelt,
Granite. propane nightmares, 9000 miles...

About what i like from those trance songs... Let me tell you that the best of trance music is that it means whatever you like or imagine, even it's electronic music, to "create" one of those tracks it's quite complex, It's not only mixing sounds in a computer. I really like tracks with a lot of different sounds, also love reverb, the music progression is based on chords, so to make a cool trance track you need to have a perfect pitch.

So, when i listen to those tunes, i can background anything i imagine, so as landscapes or something similar, the best about this is that in almost all of the trance tracks there's an identified climax which it's suposed to be the best part where all the sounds go on together, when finishes, the track goes normal again until it fades into silence, i really love that type of structure.

Same here!

When I listen to any electronic song, trance, or techno, I just imagine anything that comes to mind. It could be an adoring landscape, an idea (AMV, drawing, etc), or something else. Imagination is what happens when the music plays. :D
