I've come of reading a One-shot plublished in shonen jump several months ago, it happends 3 years after Light's death. And I can say they definitely don't live hapily ever after

What do you mean? I missed that one. With him gone, and the Death Note with Ryuk, how can they NOT live happily ever after!?

If ya already know this then I'm just repeating myself. In Japan, they made a live movie version of Death Note. It's a two part movie and I happen to have the first one. The sequel hasn't came out in Japan's theater at that time, but hopefully it'll get to DVD soon (unless it already has!). Ya might like it because it has many scenes from the series, but some extra scenes so they flow together.

Youtube contains trailers and video scenes of this movie. They might be on other video sites too.

Well, it's about 36 or 37 episodes which isn't too long as a 50 episode series or over 100 freakin' episodic series, but it depends on what your preferences or tastes are.
