I see, from some other threads too, that this is your favourite kind of comment. Do you ever think about being nicer to people who put their effort into these works?NerdStrudel wrote:Nevermind, This was absolutely horrible. bad lip synch, No lyric synch, Kept sound in some parts which didn't fit at all, bad quality... Bad everything. Guess I'll go ahead and still make my vid.

Sorry everyone for the little OT.

Well this was horrible, and I don't know what your other vids look like, but I was just saying. Mine will be better then this, but please don't think that I ever said I was a great editor, I'm not...However, I told you what was wrong with it, so this is criticism. To the other guy that came to your rescue: You're right, being honest IS my favorite kind of comment, I'm not gonna come in here and be like "oh well.. at least you tried" when it doesn't even look like this person tried. I'm not gonna say it's good when it's not.

That's not a matter of honesty, it's a matter of netiquette and public relations. I also appreciate the honest and clear way, but there's no need to flame, in my humble opinion: I can say that someone's work is wrong here and there, make a full and exhaustive crit, without pushing it so hard with words. "Horrible" isn't in any way useful to the author, it's just depressing.NerdStrudel wrote:To the other guy that came to your rescue: You're right, being honest IS my favorite kind of comment, I'm not gonna come in here and be like "oh well.. at least you tried" when it doesn't even look like this person tried. However, it's just my thought, probably I shouldn't say these things here.
Now, back on topic: I saw the video and I definitely felt it lacked some attention here and there. The idea was good, the way you brought it on missed some points: as NerdStrudel said, lip syncing is definitely off for the most part. You did a similar mistake to what I did in my first work: you left too much mouth flapping around there, instead you should have cut any unnecessary movement outside the song-syncing. This way it's confusing and wastes most of the well-synced parts. Also, you chose to put some of the anime sound into the clip, and that would have been okay if you paid a little more attention to its sync to the music: having the fight scene with punches and smashes which don't match the music pace is a little weird. Last, and most important, I think you should have tried to obtain a faster paced AMV, because as I said, the idea with the song is good, but it was too much slow and repetitive; If you had managed to fill the video with faster changes, maybe adding some transitions to help recreate the pace, it would have been a lot more catchy.
To be honest, I thought it were your first AMV, then checked your profile and found there were many other ones; I checked the Hughes Tribute and found it was noticeably better done, technically speaking. You did a better job with scene changing, did a nice sync in some occasions, and also mixing the anime sound was often done very good. I don't know what happened, but seeing that one, I know you could have done this one a lot better, maybe spending some more time and brainstorming on it.
I'll look forward to see your next one.

I don't always agree with Nerd's assessments or choice of words but he's honest about how HE feels the amv played and does leave comments. Most people won't bother to comment if they don't like your video and you're left wondering WTF?
I wouldn't say it's horrible but, yeah lip-synch is more than just finding scenes where lips move. It has to look like the character is actually saying the words. I haven't been able to do it successfully myself but there are lots of great examples on the org. Quality and sound effects have already been mentioned.

Ya picked a fun song, but anyone can do that. Just spend some more time working on getting a little lipsync goin, and try to get your scenes flow to flow better with the song. A little more effort will go a long ways in making this amv better.
Nerd may not be nice about it, but he is pretty much right.
