AWA Pro Parody: Kam-E-Chu

Post by Ashyukun » Thu Sep 04, 2008 8:54 pm

Since this didn't make the cut for Finals at Pro, I figured it would be wise to go ahead and release it now so it didn't get caught up in the deluge of releases that will obviously come right after AWA.

Kam-E-Chu is an opening remake of the CODE-E opening animation/theme using Kamichu!. I rather liked both series, and combined with getting the chance to flex my AE skills a lot more than I have in recent times made this a lot of fun to make. Enjoy!

Ah... I probably would have enjoyed this video on the pro dvd had I known it was a parody. I thought it was just made with little regard to sync because the creator didn't know any better.

I guess it'll help if some peeps saw the original CODE-E opening:

And with that in mind, it was pretty neat.

I liked the video, and I had a feeling it was probably parodying something, but I had no idea what. It probably would have been a bit more effective if I had recognized it.

Grats Ash on selecting a Studio Deen anime that no one besides us was apparently aware had already aired last summer and has a sequel broadcasting right now.

Thanks for the download. :)

Unfortunately, I pretty much knew going into Pro that nobody was going to have any clue what the heck I was doing with the video. When beta'ing it, Corran suggested that I do a Picture-in-a-Picture thing for my submission showing the original in a smaller window, but I thought that would have been in kind of bad taste for a contest submission (though it's something I plan to put up at some point... that 'point' likely being after I'm not so thoroughly embroiled in Disgaea 3).

The sync on the original is really weird, so it's not surprising I suppose that it was dismissed somewhat as just being a lack of skill- and since I know not the greatest number of people have even seen Kamichu! (though at least it was released domestically...), I knew I ran the risk of people not even realizing there was any AE work in it. I know there were several videos where I hadn't ever seen anything of the show before and didn't know whether some of what might have been effects in them were done by the editor or were in the original footage. :P

Videos like this are one of the dangers of having somewhat odd/niche tastes, but I'm glad that people are enjoying it. :)

I think the picture-in-picture would've worked really well. I've seen it done before in parody videos, and it wasn't in bad taste at all.

I got it, Ashy. Even if no one else did. It was Code-E I used to compared anime schools to my schools at kyotomaiko.blogspot.com, my Japan blog.
