Ai Yori Aoshi: Every Time (Final)
After months of off-and-on work, the remake of Every Time is finally finished. Thanks go out once again to Autraya for her pointers on rtythm, and to her and others who told me that the vid needed more drama and emotion in it. If you happened to see one of the betas, I hope you're pleased with all the changes, since it's almost like a new vid as far as tone and story are concerned.
Compared to the original, it pretty much is a new vid, as only the best scenes remain, and even they have mostly gone under a major overhaul.
Description: This vid attempts to tell the story of the romance of Ai Yori Aoshi. In the series, an arranged marriage is set up between the young heirs of two rich families, to take place when the children come of age. The boy, though, suffering from abuse, which included a severe whipping that left his back covered in scars, finally decides to disavow his family and its legacy and to make his way on his own.
When this occurs, the girl is told to forget about the boy, but she has looked forward to being his wife her entire life, and decides to leave her family as well, in order to find him and fulfill her dream. She gets lost on her journey, though, and a nice young man decides to help her out. Neither one recognizing the other, the video starts as the guy is helping her find what she thinks is his address.
Notes on "nude" scene: In Japanese culture, it is believed that body heat is one of the best treatments for a cold, and it's best if applied skin-to-skin, or with little clothing between the two people. For someone as traditional and modest as Aoi, to climb into bed naked with the guy is the ultimate demonstration of how committed she is to him and their relationship, as well of course as how much she trusts him not to try and take advantage of the situation. Therefore, I included that scene to demonstrate her caring and commitment, not for titilation.

Oh, it's up now? :O *Gets newer version*
Well, I think you already know how much I loved the first version you showed me!
I liked the changes you made. The most noticeable is the switch from English to Japanese audio in the beginning. I think it suits the video better. I'm glad you gave us a note to read about the nude scene, especially since I never knew that. It's good to know before watching this video. Re-watching it while knowing that makes the scene a lot more special. The sync was very good. The transitions flowed right with the beats and the vocal parts. Visual quality is superb.
A cute and heartwarming video. Great job!

Sounds like some realizm in a romance I mean,Gidrasan wrote:I didn't see old version, but I thougth it's not best m/v.... at all long i can see only face and two characters, whose run, or laugh at smt, or stay whith together... it's look very boring =\
isn't that what a relationship is about? Enjoying the moment with some one dear to you or what-not?

Anyway, I will get this later. Will leav my thoughts tomorrow when I wake up

Have you seen the series? If not, it might help to know that the couple is quite shy, and that both come from an old-fashioned, polite culture where something as simple as holding hands is significant, and the act of reaching out to take that hand can signify all kinds of feelings and emotions. It's really closer to an 18th or 19th-century romance than a modern-day one.Gidrasan wrote:I say that: I didn't see any emotion or feelings in this amv...
Also, the words of the song are very important, especially in scenes such as those when Aoi's family shows up and tells them that they can't stay together. Aoi's decision to defy her family doesn't involve any yelling or throwing things, but it's very emotional when you know her upbringing and personality.
Compared to a typical amv, things in this vid are understated, but it doesn't mean that there are no feelings. You just have to know a little about the characters and the setting of the story.
Hi, Melichan. I posted this right before I went to bed, and I was going to PM you today if you hadn't already found it. Glad you liked the change to the Japanese audio. It certainly fits the voice of Aoi better than the American woman's. The subtitles were easy to make, too, since I just used the Title function.
The only other changes I made to the beta you saw were during the scene where Aoi's mother comes to visit. I added the scenes or her talking and I showed the guy nodding to Aoi to confirm that he was with her in her decision to defy her family.

Glad you liked it. Adorable might just be the perfect word to describe the vid, too.ZetZu wrote:Aaaw, it was adoreableI really really enjoyed it!
You hit the mood just right together with the song and video. I really have to disagree with that bs Gidrasan mentioned, I didn't sense that at all from the video =] Anyway, very nice job! Free OP will be up soon O:

Oh god, interlacing. I never have noticed any issues with the finished vid, though I'm not saying you're wrong. This is the segment on the show's interlacing issues that I wrote for the first version of the vid. Suffice to say that this show had the worst problem that I have ever encountered:Kionon wrote:I have two words to describe it:
Old School.
And I like old school. A lot. You had some interlacing issues on high motion, and I really hated the fact that the title wasn't before the audio started in. Please fix that. Other than that, though, g'jorb. It's going on the iPhone.
"Video notes: The challenge for this vid was to eliminate the extraordinary amount of interlacing in the source material. I searched the recommended AMV threads, and the only Ai Yori Aoshi vid I found mentioned was Typical Love Story, which is one of my favorites as well. When I studied it, it seemed that not even snhKnives had been able to eliminate all of the interlacing, so I was proud that I had been able to do something that not even as great a creator as he had been able to do. Btw, it took over three hours of trying and searching, and the key was an aside comment I found on an article about TIsophote. It didn't give the answer, but it clued me in as to what was going on so that I could figure out the solution from the filters that I was familiar with. "
If you noticed interlacing, I don't doubt you, but the original was so massively laced that it took a lot of effort to get it down to a few problem areas.
