-I'd agree with that. Overplaying a song doesn't make it bad. It just wears out it's welcome. Like a houseguest that refuses to leave, and keeps telling the same jokes over and over.
SS5_Majin_Bebi wrote:I mean, the question has to b asked, if LP are so unlikable in relation to AMV's, why does everyone (generalisation) use them?
-Well, if I had to guess, I'd say that the reason there are a lot of Linkin Park videos is due to the amount of people who listen to the band. I don't think Linkin Park is necessarily good or bad for MVs. It's just another song choice. Just happens that this song choice has been used so much, people are sick of hearing the songs. It's like when you're driving, and the station plays the same god-damn song every fifteen minutes or so. It may not be a bad song, per se, but you may grow sick of it from hearing it so much. That's why I stopped liking Linkin Park. I heard them so much, I got sick of them. Same with Limp Bizkit. No, wait... I NEVER liked Limp Bizkit. ;)

My philosophy: Make whatever the hell you want. Go with whatever idea pops into your head. Have fun with it. I mean, who do you make videos for, other people or yourself? Unless you are video editting as a career, as I am thinking of doing when I get out of college (shameless plug), then the answer isn't other people. It's yourself. Your videos are expressions of yourself. If that includes Linkin Park, so be it.

I like LP, but I find that their new songs, and even some of their songs on "Hybrid Theory" are a bit dull, so I listen to the very old songs of theirs, from the album "Hybrid Theory EP". I like to listen to High Voltage (Remix), My December and Carousel.

It happens often. If you want to take something up with me, or argue with me, do it in a PM. *Once again, takes out hi .45 Long Colt and shoots SS5_Moron_Baby in the head*

look, man, i never asked for abuse but people are giving it to me in bucket loads. Just give up, coz its startin to get tiresome. if askin for media sites is a no-no, im sorry i asked. but if not, ease up a bit, for the sake of diplomacy. This is an AMV site, not a flame forum.

Welp, I've never seen someone ask for video clips before, so I dunno. The problem with that, though, is that most people have neither the space nor the desire to host digisubs off of their websites. If you can't afford the DVDs (Highly recommended, since they will provide higher quality clips), try a P2P program.

However, if you were flamed for asking for clips, it may be because using digisubs as source is somewhat looked down upon, for a couple of reasons.

1. Digisubs yield inferior final output quality when compared to videos made with DVD source. Everytime you re-compress a video file, you lose a little quality, especially when doing the final compression to distribution format. Since a digi-sub is encoded the same as the distribution copy of a video would be, using a digi-sub as source is essentially starting out with the lowest-possible quality source, and it will lose some more quality through the various stages of compression. For comparison, I offer these two images.

Image Image

In the image on the right, which is taken from my very first video, made with divx digisub source, I have circled the areas where you can see color distortions and compression noise. The most noticeable ones are in the bottom of Spike's face, in the border between light and shadow. The one on the left, made with as little re-compression as possible, you can see it's much cleaner, and there is a mild color difference between the two as well.

2. The other reason digi-subs are somewhat looked down upon as source is due to the subtitles. A lot of people leave the subtitles in for some unholy reason, and it looks tacky as hell. Especially one I saw, where the subtitles where in Chinese (possibly Korean, but I am sure they were not Japanese), so it's just pointless.

The subtitles are a bitch to remove, and many people don't see the need to bother. I only had to bother once, in one scene in the aforementioned video, and that was an unholy experience.

The primary reason is the quality of the source, though. It's always nicer to look at a video where the image quality is clean and crisp, versus one where everything has random color artifacts in every area of subtle gradiation or where it's pixelated from bad aspect ratios.

And, of course, there is the whole legal area, where fansubs of US-licensed series are technically not supposed to be distributed. Technically, I shouldn't have been able to download the digisubs I made that video with, as the distribution should have ceased once it became licensed. Many people look down on downloading as an alternative to buying, because it's essentially stealing. Myself, I only download to preview, never as an alternative to buying.

that would be the opinion, but theyve resorted to personal attacks. yeah, i can see how so called "newbies" askin for clips can be irritating, but hey, so can alot of things. Well dvd-ripping is gonna happen for me as soon as i get my new system in a week or two, but i put that post up a while ago, and its turned into a verbal slugfest. I appreciate the input.
