It fell on newton...

Post by Kionon » Mon Aug 25, 2008 9:01 am

I noticed Shazzy's website is down, so I was wondering just how many of us are mac editors, and what information do we need? Discussing it with LantisEscudo, he usually uses his PC so he can take advantage of avisynth, but I imagine that many mac editors that get into this hobby don't have a PC they can use, so obviously, it's necessary to consider how to properly process footage without access to avisynth. I said before in the sticky above that I was working on am MacAMVApp or a more comprehensive mac guide. Wish Ishtori being down, and Shazzy being AWOL, I'd go ahead and just try to understand if there is eve a desire or a need in the community for me to work on this. I'm going to be doing it anyhow, now that I have no longer have a windows machine at all, but I'm more than willing to share what I find out. Just want to know who it applies to.

Also Premiere CS3 runs great on Leopard, and it is the exact same set up as its windows counterpart.

The editors who work with Mac, generally use the "Final Cut Pro," is the editing tool par excellence ... stated that the ENCODE in MP4 are part of your options! :lol:

Yes, I have FCP, and have used it in the past. Although I prefer premiere, which as I say, is running like a champ.

I have a Mac and the reason I don't edit AMVs on it (all my other projects are being done with FCP, because frankly, it just can handle everything smoother) is just like you said: the lack of AviSynth. And even with that not available I thought lossless would be an option, but there's nothing with the strength or speed like Lagarith or Huffyuv - at least not free. I recall ishtori had a good lossless codec, but that one costs around $100 which is kinda a turn off.

I haven't tried Premiere CS3 yet, but can that one handle as many codecs as the Windows counterpart? I remember FCP not being able to handle that many (only the ones built in if I recall correctly).

So yeah, it's not the information about editing that is needed, but mostly how to get to that point..

Mac users unite ;___;

Adobe programs run great for Mac

I prefer Adobe Premiere and After Effects over Final Cut Pro.

The only thing I hate about editing with a Mac computer is that there is no AVS ;_;

I'm getting a mac with FCP soon, so I'd appreciate avisynth support as well...
