FF7 Advent Children - Overflow
From the comments: In essence, "Overflow" is a message to someone who is lost in life, telling them how fortunate they really are.
This is a pretty straightforward storytelling AMV. The theme's simple, but the story covers a lot of ground--I hope it's as coherent as I tried to make it. Feedback on that particular point would be most appreciated (and action-synch is second on my priority list). Enjoy!

One of the better AC AMVs I've seen...out of all 10,000~ of them. The narrative is certainly coherent and is the strongest element here, imo. Clean, simple editing style, briskly paced, tightly focused and character-oriented. Lip and action sync is subtle and unobtrusive. Would have liked to see more pronounced sync, cuts, and/or FX, but at least it was consistently low-key in that department. Song choice is decent--not terribly fresh or inspiring, but it works sufficiently well here and is integral to the narrative aspect of the vid. Overall, a solid effort.
Unforunately this material is so plumbed that it just doesn't move me as much as it could with a less popular source. While elegantly simple and cohesive, this vid is a few years late to the Advent Children party, and doesn't do anything revolutionary enough with the source to break free of the monotony that surrounds it. Apply those sharp editing skills to lesser-known source, and push your boundaries re: FX. You're off to a good start.

Sorry it took so long for me to reply, guys.
Zetzu: I can see what you mean. The first half of the second chorus was my least favorite part (redid the whole thing three times too--grrrr). I'm glad to hear that the rest of it made up for it. Thanks for your feedback.
leahzero: Thanks for commenting on the areas I specifically asked for and was most curious about. One of my goals was to use more hard cuts than in my first music video, but towards the end I went back to fades where there could have been cuts, and it might not have been such a good idea.
Speaking of my first music video--I was actually trying to make my second so that it was different from that one in a lot of ways--faster-paced, positive instead of tragic, focusing on many characters instead of just one relationship. And, seeing as it was to Final Fantasy Unlimited, I thought I'd try a more popular anime next so more people would be able to enjoy it (seriously, the target audience of my first vid must consist of, like, three people).
Anyway, you give good advice. I plan on working more with effects and obscure anime in the future.
