Wolf's Rain: (Carry On) Wayward Son

This video pretty much tells the story of the wolves and Cheza, with an emphasis on Kiba, who is the "wayward son." The ending of the vid is different than the series, however, which is why I didn't check the spoiler tag.
Carry On Wayward Son (there is no "My" in the title) has something of a split personality; on one hand the instrumental riffs, which probably occupy at least half the song's length, are pure 70's rock numbers. A guy I used to know, who was a teen when this song came out, described this as a party song. They probably weren't listening to the lyrics, since those aim to be deep and philosophical. Just trying to find imagery to half-way fit them was a challenge, much less trying to integrate them with the imagery of the riff portions. Whether that integration, or lack thereof, matters much depends upon the viewer.
There are two versions of the vid available; the Local download simply has the song, while the Direct, extended version contains prologue and epilogue scenes which contain the title and credit info, but more importantly serve to emphasize the vid's theme of searching for paradise, as well as a touching message from Cheza at the end.
I'd recommend getting the Local version, and if you like the vid, view the extended version at least once, for the touching scene at the end if nothing else.

Prolly one of my favorite Wolf's Rain videos. Though this might because of the music.

But....

Some of the scenes dragged at times, and some scene selections were just plain boring to look at.

Also, the first fifteen seconds was the most gorgeous opening to an AMV that I've ever seen. :O

Internal sync was good at times, then at other was severely lacking. It's like you have high paced action scenes, then boring stodgy scenes in between with no correlation to the video.

Video quality was gorgeous too.

Definitly a must see reccomendation from me.

Glad you liked the video quality. As I said on the download page, I had quite a time trying to clean it up some without losing detail. For the opening segment, I used the creditless extra, which gave me access to the wolf cry at the end, which normally has credits over it, and which I have not seen used in any other vid.
As far as scene selection goes, I was just following the music. These older songs tend to go at a slower pace than those commonly used for AMVs, so you have to get used to that.
I can see where some of the scenes aren't very dramatic, but as I said in the initial post, I was trying to lyric-sync to some very difficult lyrics. If you like the song, look up the lyrics some time, and then watch the vid again.
As far as sync, I went off the synthesizer/drum combo most of the time. I'd be happy to explain things if you want to give specific scenes, but go back and listen to it with a little different ear and you should catch on, 'cause the sync is there.

This left only a 6% horizontal stretch while saving half the lines which would've been lost in a normal conversion. I looked at a couple of the moon shots, and I didn't think one could even notice anything unless you were looking for it. So, the aspect ratio is not an error.

that makes things even more complicated. 720x480 is the resolution on regular dvd's, however during playback, it gets stretched to 720x540 [for 4:3 footage] or 853x480 [for 16:9 footage]. Since your amv doesn't have an AR flag set, it doesn't stretch, and stays at 720x480, which makes it feel funky imo, even if the image proportions are ~corrected for [640/450=1.4222 vs 720/480=1.5, which is still off by about 6% like you said...] As a rule of thumb you want your playback dimensions to divide to 1.3333 or 1.77777. This can be done either by resizing the footage itself, or simply by setting the AR flag when encoding; Or you could leave it this way, but it will make people like me scratch my head, and force 4:3 playback

About the video itself, it's not my fav from you, but it was still alright. Nice quality
