Akari Waits...

Post by Serv0 » Fri Jun 06, 2008 11:32 pm

Okay, let's get some things straight first. I absolutely HATE Shinkai's films. Which is funny, because despite my hate, I went ahead and made an AMV to one anyways.

Another funny thing too is, is that I'm not a big fan of romance vids either. Although I guarantee some of you would argue that this isn't a romance, I myself believe it's enough to fit the genre.

Now that all of that is aside...

THE IDEA:
This vid more or less is about separation, but in an upbeat kind of way. I didn't want to portray separation like it mostly is in the past: Depressing, slow, and downright sappy.

I experimented a lot with transitions in this vid. I'm typically a fan of unique cuts from one scene to another.

Good to see another release from you, was wondering if that was it. I'm pretty sure few like the guy's films for their story, it's all about the animation, and imposing you're own story. Good stuff, though I have no love of Ben Folds.

Those who overlook the dancing frog subtext do so at their own peril.

I usually hate AMVs using 5 centimers per seconds, even from my favorite editors. They are meant to be sad but even the anime itself looks boring as hell. The only exception I had seen until now was denying//change from douggie.
But now I can add that movie to this short list, the idea of making an upbeat movie from 5 cm is really cool and for once, a bit creative and original.

4/5

Oh btw, nice work on transitions I liked it, maybe you should've done them a bit quicker sometimes though.

This is the best AMV "5 Centimeters per Second" of all I've seen, the idea is simply brilliant, and presisamente edition is perfect, all in due course, great, great job!

5/5..Obra maestra!!

No qc for you mr. no Local

Yeah, I liked it and I rarely get 5cm vids.

The transitions were nifty  Very seamless. If I ever make an amv with effects, I think that's the way to do it. Fun song. A little timing could have been tweaked near the end imo [3:32], but overall good. I thought the text should have been smaller. Lyric sync [esp. literal "clock," "Headlights"] was nice.

I guess I should mention that one of the goals of the vid, was to convey the OPPOSITE mood that the movie itself portrayed.
95 % of this vid only uses the first 15 minutes of the film and the last 10 mins of the film. More or less, I wanted to make the character's age difference as distinguishable as possible. Because honestly...there are times where I can't distinguish characters in most Shinkai films.

You're just jealous that you and your partner of benefits didn't incorporate this in your vid.
