The fact that the song makes absolutely no sense to be connected to the anime?
You answered your own question. ;)

On youtube, slideshows can do ridiculously well simply because they have either music people like, or anime they like. Now, I wouldn't say that the concept of editing is foreign to the tube, it's just foreign to the people that only look for videos based on music/anime they like. And when they find either one, ...well damn... they have to give it a five. Unfortunately, this group is the most vocal [the classic... "Man, I love Linkin Park! YOu too!?! OMG!!!" ], and the popularity and ease of use of the tube amplifies that.
At least that's what I think.

Exactly. I think it's kind of like this as well.

I do have to say this. I made my very FIRST amv with WMM and loaded it to youtube as soon as I finished it. I was so excited it made me sick that it took 10 min's to upload it. I wanted EVERYONE to know its glory. And how crappy it really was.

I then stumbled upon the org and uploaded it here. I got feedback from GOOD editors and community members. I improved my second video a great deal. I slowly learned how to use Premiere Pro thanks to the guides and member help here.

Now on my third video I don't think it would be anywhere NEAR the quality it is in without the help of (Mostly Crackz <3) the site and the community.

Bottom line. JUST posting on youtube does not make you good. People may think that your Linkin Park Naruto vs Sasuke video is wtfhaxpwnage when its not.

The first time I saw Darkness over Light I was stunned at the quality of Naruto amv's that DON'T get attention. There are so many quality ones that get over shadowed by the crap.

The quality ones though get praise on this site and they deserve it. What is more important? Being praised by other editors and artist's or having a drove of Otaku give you 5/5 stars b/c you didn't have Subs in your AMV?

The only reason to upload vids to the tube is to post them on a forum to share. Other than that its usesless to gain knowledge and better your skills.

/Rant off.

if youtube existed when i made my first amv, it'd be right up on there too. i tried sharing it on kazaa, but i dont think it got downloaded much. then i found out about the org, but it didn't provide hosting at the time, so i uploaded a low quality version (7mb wmv for the win) on to angelfire and linked it on the org. it was awesome at the time nonetheless.

I did my own test...

I went to the tube and typed in "Anime AMV"

At the top? Some crap DBZ "AMV" that is like 9min long that is 3-4 diff areas of different episodes put to some random ass song.

The closest thing to an AMV was Skittles which came in at #9.

Everything above it was garbage. And no, I am not saying its garbage compared to skittles...I am saying its garbage in general. For the love of god all of these South/Latin American boys need to watch other Anime aside from DBZ. That is why the view counts are so high on that crap.

I am glad for the filtering system on this site since YT fails by leaps and bounds.
