Before you could happily make an AMV that just had good sync and a few nice fx and it was good. Now most people don't like videos unless they have loads of fancy fx in it and really cool stuff.

Also lots of people DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO THE SYNC and that makes me sick, so if you sync a video they might not even notice, they just pay attention to the fx, the anime and the song. If they like that the videos good for them. It's what Eva-Fan said:
Eva-Fan wrote:No fx amv's partially suffer because your seeing scenes from animes in amv's that you have probably seen a million times by now just set to different music. Since there is no FX it's just not as interesting cause its all the same. I think godix said something along these lines once, its all the same recycles garbage without FX.
But anyways, I don't think it's THAT bad, I mean.. things change and you can't stop it, just use what you like from the new styles and the old ones, do what you like.

Guilty as charged, though I haven't played in a few months.

...For The Horde!!
You forgot one:

Level over9000 KING PWOLF.
Lies. You can't have a KING PWOLF class in any game. It'd be too imba.

...that is unless KING PWOLF demands there be a KING PWOLF class. SO SAYS THE KING (PWOLF)!
The class would be nerfed within days. :(

They should at least have a spell called

I really like those two posts Yoko made to explain things. Quite entertaining.

It's a different way to look at it.. and I like that perspective.

I think it's in the imagination of what needs to be in your video, just have good mood sync and what would be considered nice editing/cuts, and I'll be happy.

It amuses me that we have all these people in this thread complaining about how everyone only cares about omg fx these days, but nobody who actually fits that description has popped in to say anything.

So, uh, where ARE all these people who "don't like videos unless they have loads of effects"?

I actually haven't had anyone bitch at me for not using effects but I still have people telling me they like my videos even though they have no effects.

The top 10% suggests they lurk in massive numbers.

2x. I have yet to see this.

These 2 tell me a little different if that means anything to anyone :s.
But then again I don't think it's exactly fair to determine that by this alone.

This subject could go on deeper but I think it's best if it's just put to a close.
But what Scintilla got me thinking.
Face facts, the numbers are pretty clean cut that the great masses go nuts for FX.

And I would certainly hate to call it immaturity on the other end of the group and just think to myself that the person is saying, "It's a problem cause I can't do those effects."Chances are that it might be true for some

BUT!
To ascribe any significant part of it to jealousy would just be plain ass ignorantly immature as their antithesis.

hence where i said "Everyone in the hobby is retarded."

I'm pretty sure that to a certain extent some people really do choose to eschew significant effects.

When it really comes down to it. the 2 sides will never be at ease with each other.
One Side will think that other side is just jealous.
While the other side thinks that effects-heavy stuff is crass.

In my minimalist sense, am of the opinion that effects should be used with great care and never for their own sake.

so yes, Prod,
I think we are over-complicating matters just a bit.

when it comes down to inception of things, the whole topic here can go deeper about what the real problem is and the "oh shiny" factor can be discounted for.

Not only that but I have gone through the "Announcements" area of the forums to come across a pretty interest thing.

The videos that are given feedback are the ones that have WELL KNOWN editors. Nostromo, Crackz, Code, Rice, Koop, Silver and a few others ALWAYS get LOADS of OMFGZ LEET replies by a good amount of people. Some of it is constructive and some of it isnt. Do they deserve the praise? Sure, I like their videos and have a lot of them on my HDD. I seek advice and help from them as well when I can.

But then you look at Joe Schmo #2 and see that his rather "good" video is something that has 5-6 replies if he is lucky. The well known people around here will average 30-80+ replies on a video. That is a lot of views and a lot of DL's.

This could also be seen as an intimidating factor to some people. I know when I released my first vid I have like 4 people post about it. I didn't care though since I realized it was not that hot. I am not one to back down but there are some people who think, "No one will watch my videos, therefor I suck, hence I should stop this hobby and try something else" rather than try to get better.

Now am I over complicated/blurring things? Maybe, maybe not.

If the community is strong, welcoming, and tight it wont matter how an AMV comes out as long as you can enjoy sharing it with others. I edit to the best of my abilities and I know where my strengths are. We need people to edit how they want and not how everyone else finds to be the "New hawtness".
