I envy some of you. I have trouble working on one more than 10 hours, if I could actually spend months on something, maybe I could make something really amazing. But in the end videos that take forever for someone to make always have tons of effects and I'm not that good with effects except for basic ones.. maybe that's the pressure that keeps me from doing it.

I usually spend 4 to 10 hours on a video. The most time I spent making a video was the one I was remastering. I'm guessing 15-20 hours. My latest video took about 10 hours I think it was.

The other ones took around 4 to 8 hours.

I think you should take your time, if it's a good video the style won't matter so much

I believe when making an AMV its important not to rush things. I'm not very good with special affects, so I use musical timing in most of my vids. It usually takes me anywhere from three to six weeks to complete an AMV, as I work during the day and only have a few hours of free time each night. The process that takes me the most time is ripping the footage from dvd to my computer, its slow but gets me the highest quality footage. Good post, here's a link to my latest AMV if you're interested in watching it:

I'd say on average... about 20 hours per minute? On and off, sometimes with looooong (and sometimes with barely any, heh) breaks in between, of course.

But I've never really kept track. Too much hassle. :P

As long as it takes. I'm alot faster then i used to be when it comes to editing. I just trust my gut and edit what feels right for the video.

Let's see. I can churn out one in about one to two weeks. If I'm really motivated to do it, I can do it in about less than a week. Then again, my videos aren't horifically complex so that might have something to do with it along with that some ideas have been in my head since last year where it took me a week to do and they aren't all that great.

Although, my last one took a month to do but half of that was trying to clean the footage along with procrastination and school.

For those of you taking months to work on your AMV, are these very complex videos or what?
