This seemed like an original concept but with not so original audio selections. >_> Under normal circumstances, some of the audio used would have made for a unique or weird video. With a concept like this though I pretty much expected some of the songs to be fairly annoying or weird with the intent to make it difficult for the following editor to edit to. I personally enjoyed the video more when less 'random' audio was selected, especially the audio Otohiko selected.

lol. Well, I thought the "song" sounded like beat poetry. So I wanted to give it a title to portray that idea, and include the Improv element if possible. (Because 'My Improv Segment' would have just been boring.Ingow wrote:can't believe you actually gave it a perfect Tom Waits kinda titlewurpess wrote:Improv Night at the Cafe with Dear Daniel![]()

I should point out that I gave one of the two most unusual audio bits but I wasn't trying to fuck over the next guy. At one point I had actually thought of running a project entirely of data sonifications before I decided it'd be too much like a previous MEP I did. But I still wanted to see something done with this type of audio so I told cracker what I would pass on before improv even officially started. I was hoping for a decent editor to take a stab at it. Sadly he gave it FallChild instead but despite that the result was still pretty watchable I thought. So, for a change, I actually wasn't being an asshole to people. Well, not about the audio I passed on at least. What I edited is an entirely different story.Corran wrote:Under normal circumstances, some of the audio used would have made for a unique or weird video. actually, that wasn't the intention of the MEP in that aspect. I will not assume everyone selected their songs thinking this way, but nobody wanted to "make it difficult" for others. For example, now that I see, I can tell Kitsuner got problems with the track I send (I'm assuming), but my intention wasn't to screw him over (or whoever was going to get that track). I really wanted to see that track edited in some way.Corran wrote:With a concept like this though I pretty much expected some of the songs to be fairly annoying or weird with the intent to make it difficult for the following editor to edit to.

x2, when i gave my track out I was hoping whoever got it would like it, but apparently not xDomegaevolution wrote:actually, that wasn't the intention of the MEP in that aspect. Same with me. When I passed on that Simple Plan song, I had attempted to edit to it before, but I didn't have the right footage for it. When I saw that it was Kenshin (several months ago) I jumped for joy in anticipation (and I wasn't dissapointed).omegaevolution wrote:actually, that wasn't the intention of the MEP in that aspect. Of course I wanted to make it a bit difficult for the next editor. It´s a challenge right? ... and we´re supposed to force them to get out of theire editing boxes.
ffff I call this project really subjectiv. People hate it, people like it. People say tracks that I really wouldn´t call the best.
Guess what? I think I watched this MEP a lot of times. Not the whole MEP, but tracks and I think that it had the highest review ability since one month or so for me. Just because it´s intressting.

Okay, let's face it. A lot of these tracks are mostly unwatchable and I was disappointed to have radio rock and the like anywhere near this project. The way everyone was talking when this was being set up, I thought my audio would actually be one of the more merciful ones.
But there were a lot of tracks that were just awful, and that's not really the fault of the editors (at least not all the time). If we ever get around to doing a second one, somebody will have to screen the audio. (melee, I didn't think your track was all that bad, but for passing on Blink 182, you have shamed yourself)
I was prepared to edit something absolutely insane (like, I don't know, how about Hella or something), and then when I got my audio and found instrumental Kingdom Hearts music, I thought, "what the fug is this?"
So I guess I did end up editing something outside of what I usually do, but I actually kind of wish I'd gotten the data sonification of Jupiter.
Ah well, there are good tracks, a couple great tracks too, but they're swimming in a broth of bile and sadness.
Even so, fun times in its own way.

Chocolate Synthesizer is actually one of my favorite albums by the Boredoms. they went from hard noise rock to really cool experimental acid trance later in their career.
I listen to them all the time while I'm driving, and I was hoping somebody would do something really cool with the song. so thats why I passed it on.
I was also hoping other people would pass on audio, like me and godix did, something they wanted to see edited two, but not likely to be on the org all that much...
I mean, Simple Plan? Blink 182? Its not like videos to those bands or ones like them (YELLOW CARD I'M LOOKING AT YOU MAL) are a rarity.

Heh heh, well, if it makes you feel better, your track ended up being one of my favorite tracks in the MEP. I could only wonder what you would have done if I sent off the other song I was considering...Copycat_Revolver wrote:I was prepared to edit something absolutely insane (like, I don't know, how about Hella or something), and then when I got my audio and found instrumental Kingdom Hearts music, I thought, "what the fug is this?"
You know, I hope my tracks isn't one of the horrid ones people keep mentioning (I at leats hope it's tolerable[sp?]), even if I did screw up right before the end.Ah well, there are good tracks, a couple great tracks too, but they're swimming in a broth of bile and sadness.
Somehow, I really expected something more upbeat for my audio, so when I got it all I could think was "What the crap is THIS?! What am I supposed to DO with it?!". It was really a type of song I never have (and might never again) worked with before, which made things interesting. And it gave me an excuse to work with an anime I've been wanting to use for a while now, so hey.
I'll leave an OP eventually, I swear.
