GetBackers - Harder to Breathe

Post by rpm77 » Sat Apr 26, 2008 3:50 pm

This is my 3rd amv. With the first two, I knew nothing and ended up committing pretty much every amv sin in the book. With this one, I know (slightly) more, due to the guides in the How-To section and this forum. So definitely thanks for that--I think this vid is a lot better than my first ones, even though I have light years to go. lol.

Done in Windows Movie Maker. Pre/post processed with AviSynth. Big yaoi undertones in my head but doesn't have to be viewed that way.

First off, let me first state the quality of this video being made from Windows Movie Maker was really well accomplished. I nearly smacked my jaw when I first took my eyes on it.

Next let me state that this is one of my favorite songs for the longest time, and I have been dying for somebody to edit to this.

I also LOVE Getbackers, and hate the shortage of "good AMVS" using it.

That all being said I have to say that my thoughts of this AMV was a resounding "meh".

It wasn't bad by any means. It was average. It was far from aweful. There were times when I was like "wowies!", but about 75% of the time I kind of drifted off from the use of repetitive scenes.

The concept was solid and unique, and I would have never thought of that kind of yaoi pariing. Especially when you've seen there series. Nice work there.

Any scenes where you slowed down the footage were just bad though. :_(

So in summary, I would probably suggest this to anybody to give a once over, especially to Maroon V or Getbackers fans.

Pleasently surpised, I want to see more of your work now.

CodeChrono,

Thank you for your reply! I'm glad that the picture quality turned out well, and I definitely understand what you were saying about the slow motion. WMM pretty much killed me on both fronts. I think I also understand what you said about the repetitive scenes, and I'll definitely try to work on it in the future.

What parts made you go "wowies"? I want to make sure I don't drop that skill set as I build on what I learned. lol.

This sums up my opinions about the video pretty well too.

I've not seen this anime so I know nothing about it or what to call things. But the parts of the video that I liked most were the electric fighting scenes that in some parts almost reminded you of DBZ power ups and kameha-meha's. My favorite part was at the end when the boy got ticked off and made that electricity bomb. 1:47 and 2:15 had some entertaining action.

I thought it was off and on though. The parts where I drifted from the video was in between the action with the close up clips of the characters talking dialog to each other. Pretty much just what CodeChrono said about it.
