Whats it all about?

I just watched The End of Evangelion and i thought it rocked but.......it.....the ending confused the crap out of me. What the hell did Shinji try and throttle Asuka for, and are they like the only two left, and WHY is Shinji still miserable, i thought he had the power to change that.

This confudion probly stems from the fact that i've only seen one episode of the serious prior to watching the EoE (the one where a big spherical angel appears over the city, and Shinji gets dragged into it, but then they find out that what they think is the angels body is actually its shadow and vice versa) so i just want someone to explain the last half hour or so...

If you re-watch it you see Shinji choking Auska during the "psycho" phase of the mind melding thingy because she rejected him. It is safe to say that the feeling was still present in Shinji after wards. Yes they are the only two left at the end of the movie, if you want to look at it in a different perspective they are like the new Adam and Eve. As far as still being miserable he will always be like that.

Actually I think all the other people can come back if they wish. I swear I heard Rei say that during the 3rd Impact while talking to Shinji. As for choking Asuka. I have no clue and I don't think anybody really knows wtf is going on. As an anime magazine said "Don't try to understand it. Just sit back and enjoy," or something like that.

ok iv also seen end of eva and like the 1st 4 episodes...and the end of eva made me kinda speechless. I thought akira wuz wierd..dis shit iz downright nuts. but its coo in a freaky kinda xenogears on crack while inhaling tear gas kinda way. its a cool movie and i cant wait to c the series as a whole!

http://www.evaotaku.com/ has a great faq that deals with many questions. He only goes by what has been said in the series and by the creators and doesn't idily speculate.

What's it about? It's about a director going mad and taking an excellent series and ruining it!!!! To make up for it the third eva movie should be all about Hikari making boxed lunches!
