Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Bad criticism? really  WELL, I watched it. Here's what I thought:

1. Not a very high resolution -- kinda hard to get into when it's that small.
2. Sync, for the most part, only existed in the first 10 seconds.
3. Letterboxing was was different in certain areas.
4. Some strange blocking goin on.
5. Suffered from the "I have to tell a story by pasting clips chronologically in relation to the show" syndrome.
6. SUBTITLES
7. Scenes were too long in length.
8. Overall, not an enjoyable amv in my opinion because of the above reasons -- but at least there were no interlacing issues from what i saw. The problems above caused distraction and boredom. I'm not trying to be mean -- just honest. Good luck with your competition. Oh, and don't delete your other vids -- they can build confidence when comparing them to your newer improvements.

blaku92: excellent reply! Detailed and pointed out the issues very well.

Now, my turn.
-Video is a bit all over the place. Make sure in the future to pay attention to the beat and transition to this. The chorus part especially.
-Try not to use long scenes on busy songs. You could get away with this on ballads but not on rock/dance etc.
- The video has a few good scenes, as stated above the first 30 seconds had some good scenes in it. When you quickly change scenes, you had good captures but they were not synched to the music. Pay attention to this.
- The video is very typical of many, many AMV creators. The more you watch, the more you get ideas on synching and scene transitions. Checked out the top 10% videos, stuff from Sierra Lorna, JCD, Koopeskeva. Another good place to look is here:

Lots of stuff to choose from if you are looking for ideas.

Must be an inside joke. I only said to watch his vids, not take his advice (shudder!)

Yeah, Vegas might be easier to use, but Avid is industry standard. I'm not sure which Editor I like best -- lately I've been playing it old school w/ Premiere 6.5. I Lol'd because I really don't like to make amvs with Avid. For RobbieMiller89, I would suggest getting something like Vegas 8 or a Premiere Pro of some sort even if you don't win the contest. And if you can't afford them then find a way. When it comes to editing -- if you like it enough, you can make sacrifices to obtain these programs. If it's just a hobby or you may not stick with it for long -- I wouldn't bother spending a lot of money. That's not to say you can't make interesting music videos with free programs as well -- they do exist.

I went and got Vegas 8 Myself ^_^

Thanks,

Uhmmm I'm going to try again when I can get an idea for a new AMV, I think I have one but I need to think it out more, and I'm not going to rush it or screw it up this time, and its going to be the best possible quality I can get my hands on.

=) Cya Later.
