Doomtown- Asian/American band The Slants to Karas

Post by Dark_Lady_Kassendra » Wed Apr 09, 2008 6:23 pm

This is my second AMV. Unlike my first AMV, I was able to use better programs like Adobe Premiere, After FX, and Virtual Dub. Last time all I had at my disposal was Windows Movie Maker. Blah... This is all thanks to my friend Geirr who allowed me to use his machines and instructed me on how to use the programs, but the creation was mine alone ^.^ Many thanks to you Geirr for mentoring me!!

This project is for a contest put on by an asian dance/rock band from Portland, OR known as The Slants. I choose their song Doomtown and set it to clips of Karas:The Prophecy and Karas: The Revelation, using mostly just Otoha's yakuza backgroud scenes to build 'Doomtown'. Unfortunately due to a deadline for the contest I wasn't able to add as many effects and play with the programs more than just simply stringing the clips together and using basic transitions and doing a bit of lip syncing, so I left it up to the beauty of the animation to be the effect. All in all it's a decent project. I've come along way from my first AMV that is definately for sure.

Please feel free to send me any and all constructive critisim and/or congratulations. =^.^= I really do hope you enjoy it!

Wow, so like, since no one has posted on this am I to assume that anyone that saw it either thought it was ok or it wasn't bad but didn't really feel the need to comment... ok, I guess that's better than getting battered about the head on what I did wrong, lol.... the only thing I got was a quick comment that stated simply 'sucked'.... meh......

Er.. I'll get it. But I can already tell you Karas + 720 x 480 is a no no. I'll either edit my post or post again when I finish watching it.

 I don't get it, why is a resolution of 720x480 wrong, especially for Karas? *scratches head* so much to learn.... I was instructed to set it at that, I don't understand how it would effect the quality of the video.

Karas is 16:9 not 4:3.

Ok...16:9 is that the aspect ratio? And how does it tie into the whole 720x480 thing?

Sorry I'm so full of questions, yes, I'm a noob, but I wanna know as much as I can so I don't make these mistakes in the future, as many of you have said. ^.^

When making this video for the most part I had another more experianced AMV creator helping me with the fine details of the programs while I was the creation of the video. He just told me to make it 720x480. To me it appears clean video footage, so how would a different setting change that or make it better or worse?
