CHS Anime Club
Hello there. We'll it's been about a month and I have started an Anime Club at my school. So far it is going pretty well for the most part and currently I started the club out with Slayers. We've decided to create our own crazy manga. We are currently working on it and hope to finish it before April. Right now there is currently 25 memebers. So I am very pleased with how the club is going so far. Unfortunitly I am a senior this year and I don't know if the club will continue next year maybe due to lack of anime. Currently I have The Slayers, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Ranma 1/2, Gokudo, Excel Saga, Yu Yu Hauksho, Moblie Suit Gundam 0079, Nijia Scroll, and a couple others. My collection is starting to expand some more but I must say this is draining my wallet.

If you plan to show commercial titles, I would recommend writing a letter asking for permission to the license holders. Most of them have forms that you fill out and Fax them and then they give you permission. Just to sorta cover your ass in legal terms. I'm co-president of a University-level anime club and we always make sure to do this when we show commercial titles.

How quick are they to respond? I've had some reply problems myself, and as a result we only do fan-subs.ErMaC wrote:If you plan to show commercial titles, I would recommend writing a letter asking for permission to the license holders. What kind of legal problems could you have exactly? As long as no one is making a profit (Is that even possible with an anime club?
) I know they couldn't sue for damages. I suppose the could sue to make you stop, but why would they? The purpose of these clubs is to increase intrest in their product so it would seem to me that the companies would encourage people to form clubs like this.

When I become an Evil Overlord my Legions of Terror will be an equal-opportunity employer. Conversely, when it is prophesied that no man can defeat me, I will keep in mind the increasing number of non-traditional gender roles.

We'll It's been nearly a month and now our club has extended two Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Tuesdays it is either all manga work to finish it up for the schools introspect or anime showing. Thursday is a mixture of both. We'll it seems like they like that idea and the manga is starting to flow pretty well now. Once it is finished I'll post the adress so you can see our clubs manga.

Nice....too bad though at my school they give you a detention for drawing anime because "It is gothic and Evil" oh....right....guess we have to remove like 90% of the kids from our school since theyre gothic...

wow my school is a CHS too. i wonder how many CHS's there are. but anyways anyone heard of a club called the free thought society? it's supposed to be some new club "sweeping" the nation. it's getting started at my school. it's supposed to be a club for the free discussion of any type of religion, philosophy, and is usually a hangout for everyone that isn't in the "other" religious organization that I assume is at most other schools. Is there a club like this at any other schools in the nation? I'd like to know.
