What's the latest great band you've discovere through AMVs?
I am constantly discovering new bands through AMVs, and I was curious as to who else has discovered fantastic bands that they had never heard of before downloading a certain video.
Myself, I have fairly recently been introduced to the wonders of Apocalyptica by two of Fluxmeister's videos. Sweet Jeebus, they have some fantastic instrumental music. It's simply breathtaking.

Melezov, with his Pater Noster video, made me discover Moonspell just by putting one of their song ("Mute") as ending.

< offtopic >Oh, before I forget, Wyverex - I think where I saw your avatar before was on a shirt from Pyramid; I got their snailmail catalog for years and years. < /offtopic >
Anyway, some of the things I've either discovered or re-discovered from AMVs are...
Information Society
Enigma
Rammstein (yes, never gave them a serious listen before)
DDR music (which, though having heard people yap about it on other boards, I'd resisted till then) ... as well as a smattering of other J-Pop and recent dance music
Basement Jaxx
Eiffel 65
Bjork (also heard other people talk about it, in this case my roommates, but had resisted)
It's a start, right?
And I try to evangelize my favorites myself with disgusting regularity, so I bet that's a cool thing to hear.

Hmm... I know there's a few but I can't remember which were because of AMVs. And Chaos, Apocalyptica rules! But I was lucky enough to stumble across them a while ago. Have you heard "Romance"? Great song.
So here's the ones I think were from AMVs...
Morcheeba
Delerium
Kamelot
Radiohead (I'd always liked 'em but AMVs re-introduced me to them when I was a little older)
Nightwish
Rammstein (I have to admit, I'd only heard "Du Hast" before AMVs
)

Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

The stand out for me is Nightwish. I first heard them in an AMV to some Gundam show or another, it was the song 10th Man Down. But I really got into them when I downloaded 2 Noir AMV's, one to the song Sleepwalker, and the other to the song Bare Grace Misery. Those made me go, "damn, that's a kick ass band," so I immediatly hit DC and downloaded a mass of songs. Now they are my favorite metal band.

In no specific order,
Smashing Pumpkins
Radiohead
NightWish
The greatest 'find' for me being Nightwish, since there are substantially less 'popular' than the first two, but they make really, really phenomenal music.
If there is one question I had to ask, it would be
"What other bands are similar to Nightwish (that has similar melody + heavy-ness) that might others recommend?" O_O

The Gundam/Nightwish vid was probably Shellshock by Rubyeye. One of my favorite vids. If you like Nightwish, I recommend Nailz's Battle of the Mind...

Well Shonen, I haven't found a band quite like them. But have you tried Blind Guardian? They're just as amazing in their own way, and though the lead singer has one of the most amazing voices ever, I'm not sure he matches up to Tarja (Nightwish).
Ooooh! Yeah! I'm listening to Symphony X right now, they're sounding really really good. The song I'm listening to is called "Awakenings" and I highly recommend it
.
Those are the two I'd definately recommend. And if you like Blind Guardian, try out Demons and Wizards. It's a band with the lead singer of Blind Guardian and the guitarist from Iced Earth.
