Opening past VCA for newer members?

I really like the Viewers Choice Awards, It's an easy way of finding the best videos this site has got to offer. But after I've seen the winners, the next step would be the other nominees that didn't quite make the cut. This is easily done by checking out the Final Vote, as long as you've been a member long enough.

If you haven't been a member long enough, you get blocked out, "to combat possible abuse by members creating new accounts to pump up votes" in a contest that was over years ago.

What I'm proposing, is that you simply remove those blocks so we newer members can get a look at the finalists, and maybe even the semi-finalists of past Video Choice Awards that have already been concluded.

basically, you just browse through it to see what the public majority considers the best videos of that year, in their separate categories >.>

for some reason, i find that more accurate than the top 10% list...
so I'd like to get access to the finalists that didn't win in the end.

sorry for the double post, but the VCAs are also limited to people who JOIN it so you could be missing out on videos that were never entered into the contest.

Yeah. Sorry, my sarcasm got the best of me.

I hardly think that either the VCAs or the site's Top 10% list are really the best indicators of the best AMVs on the .org (which isn't to say that there aren't good videos on either list, of course), but that's just me, and it's kinda OT...

But I do like what you're suggesting.

I think you got the wrong impression...
I won't use it as my only Source of videos, of course. and I've already seen most of them anyway, probably.
I just thought there might be a few that I've missed among the final nominees that I could really like...

basically, there's no problem for the 2007 award, since i joined in 2006. All the final nominees are visible, even those who didn't win any categories...

but since I joined in 2006, the 2006 Awards and those in earlier years are blocked from me as described in my first post. Implemented to fight abusers, there's no real reason to continue to block new accounts long after the vote is over... that's all really.

you could say that I just want to see the honorable mentions.

We will make the past semifinalists visible again, but we can't get around to doing it until after the VCA ends next week. Just sit tight for another week or so, okay?
