So now whats basicly happening is people are starting to talk about FX/Presets and overall standards from a different perspective as they'd normally do which would be just keep it to themselves.
We figured [Or rather "I", considering I can't speak for the others.] the moment the Spoil review would be posted on the boards people would start screaming murder. Thus why we pushed it a little.
Autraya says:
i guess you weren't obvious enough on spoil . as in it was just waaaaay too long a review
going round incircles [Going round in "Inner Circles" =w=.] alot
Niotex says: It did.. I blame the people on "defense" for being very "slow".. *cough* Paperisland *cough* Don't take me wrong though. Even if I'm a ass on the review not ones did I say it was a bad video. Which is what people are assuming as soon as I started pointing out "negative" things.
Though the highlighting of the "negative" had a funny side effect. Being, before the review people were all "ZOMG Spoil CaN i hAZz Ur BebES?!?~!". After the review people started giving it negative feedback as well.. as if they had seen the "light". But regardless of their altered opinions, they don't want to feel like the bad guy. Thus they point at the guys that did the review. And for some reason people seem to really have it out for me the most. Which is fine considering I don't mind getting chewed out a little for the sake of pushing standards and making people more aware. Someone has to be the bad guy might as well be me you know.
Reason I'm saying that is because I'm confident enough to back up my own words with actions. Something most people in our community cant or will not do. I'm lazy so it doesn't show on a regular basis, but when I do output something I try to push things =P Its my creed.
Niotex says: Also your free to quote me at any given time. That and I need to drink less coffee..
Alex: finish it ye bastid .... wait you're not the slow one >.<
new banzors in the making :p

I just group them in with other sourts of effects one either hand makes or uses presets. Frankly I have nothing against any of them as long as they are artisticly employed rather than being used just for wows or kicks.
I don't use them but that's because
1. I think I suck with them
2. I just prefer to edit with just old fashioned transitions
But that's not because I think it's a superior way or editing.

INVERT STROBES FTW!
lol, but seriously, i don't see a problem with presents. When used properly, they can make a video better, though not always. I prefer more complicated effects (they just make better eye candy) though.
Also, i'm' insulted you didn't use one of my videos as a example of presets Autraya

The point of view taken by the OP is bizarre to say the least. At no point did they address ROI, cost effectiveness, or time management. When you are working on multiple projects at once and a high priority item comes in for a preferred client you WILL drop what you are doing and use the most efficient method to wrap projects up so you can spend more time and energy on your preferred client's contracted work. It is ludicrous to assume all projects are equal and that using presets is somehow beneath one's professionalism.
The most powerful effects ever used in a music video were in Too Short's Cocktails

See 1:15. I'm pretty sure that was a canned effect.
It's OK. L2P. Holla~~
