I can't agree with FC theory. Because when you arrange your hands vertical and point one thumb up (right hand) and the thumb from the other hand (left) down, then it is possible for the viewer to see that constellation, if he/she looks from your left side onto your hands....

And I still wonder why you would arrange thumps up/down horizontal that would be more like thumbs left/right....

I finally figured out what pisses me off about the

Emoticons.

You can see the fingers on both of them.

This means either A: the thumbs up is ment to be from a first person view (in which case the thumbs down is one's left arm contorted to provide the same view)

or

B: It is from the viewers view (which makes more sense) which means the thumbs up would be almost impossible to do in real life to make the fingers appear to the viewer.

So thanks for that.
And I thought only the videos were overanalyzed in -review

You know those are words that people tell me every time in both the org and real life. The reason why I'm starting off with these words is because the following would be considered very non-Take it Easy. As a fellow AMV viewer and editor I often try to find a balance between Fun and Organization. Especially when it comes to reviewing a video such as Spoil.

The following quote contains my thoughts concerning the vid in Spoil's Announcement thread back in December.
Servo101010 wrote:Okay I'm gonna be honest with you guys.

After watching it, for the fifth time now, I don't know how to approach this review the right way, so I'm gonna divide my scores into two. One for visual experience and technique. Two, for content and emotion.

The visuals and techniques are experiments in this video, and they are in truth very well done. More or less, the video feels more like a demoscene. In other words, visuals are this video's main focus. A lot of creations and choices are very unique and well paced. Especially when placed with Celldweller, a very cool artist to begin with.
Some designs in this video stand out too, and are very artistically appealing.
Your credits are also well done for demoscene and is a special effects experience in itself.
5/5 for visuals and technique.

Now the part that I hate to give.
This video disappointed me in content and emotion because there's not a lot there. I kept asking myself, "What's the point?" A very defined atmosphere and mood is set into play, but the characters don't feel dynamic. Just a bunch of close ups and twirling around. I'm not saying the video needs a story, not at all. But as an audience member, there's really nothing that connects me to the video besides all the twirling and flickering.
2:07, however had a little bit of this emotion and content I was looking for. The lyrics in the song are explaining Light's thoughts and his slow movements are telling me his emotions. After that, it goes back to all the twirling, close ups, and flying around.
2.5/5 for content and emotion. I'll give you credit because the song itself did have a little emotion in play, and some of the text used also portrayed some emotional thoughts.

Overall, I consider this video a true success, because I'm assuming you guys weren't even aiming for content in the first place. Also tech demos and demoscenes do follow this criteria of visual experience, so the video's goals are achieved. So please don't get low blow because some wanker said the video didn't deliver his needs. All videos are not perfect, but so aren't reviews either.
After two months since the vid came out, I still stand by my statements. The vid is still technically well done and the visuals are still pretty to today's standards. But having watched it again since December, I still find no satisfaction with the idea or content of the video. There's just nothing there really.
More or less, I feel less connected with the video now than I did two months ago.
What I'm hoping the editors may do in the future is use their talents to form unique and definite ideas on the screen. Darius GQ, Boogayman, and RatKiller, you guys have the masterful talent to give great visuals, but hopefully you guys may show something greater than just pretty pictures.
"There is no point in having sharp images when you have fuzzy ideas."

Spoil still has its masses and it still has its popularity.
But that doesn't excuse the holes that are already in the soup.

I got a little disappointed the first time I watched this video, as a Death Note fan the artist comments (and only them) got me with it, specially because nobody had picked Riuk as a character for a video (is because he's ugly or because he likes apples? c'mon say it). Let's put on a side the excess of effects and the pitch dark atmosphere, let's talk about the emotion trasmited with the video. I basically didn't find what you say in the video comments and it causes different impressions with people that haven't seen the anime, I got a friend who watched it and just said me "what de hell is that?" (she don't know what's Death Note but she likes amv); in this video case you must watch fist the anime or read the manga to understand.
At the end, after watching it more than 10 times, I realized it's not a Riuk video, it's a video about how Riuk looks Light, which turns us to another Light video. As I see, it's about twisted mind of Light.
As a second comment, I think your video is closer to a MAD than an AMV.

I don't think I can ever see something as a MAD unless it uses a japanese song =/ I still prefer to draw a line between AMVs and MADs anyway as there is little point to comparing the two - different syllabuses.

Spoil to me seems to be a slightly fancier version of Whisper of the Beast (another video I'm not all that into) just in a Death Note theme.. and yea I've read the manga (and working on the anime right now) so it's not like I "don't get the character" - I just didn't get a lot of the scene choices, but at the same time the guy singing is really hard to understand.

lol I love how people consider riot gear a preset, that just fucking rediculous, as if its hard to go into photoshop and whip up a grungey texture.

I don't know about alot of people here, but the way my pc runs, I'd rather just throw a riot gear grunge in than waste the cpu on opening photoshop to do something so fucking rediculously easy.

Just had to throw that in there \:
