Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - Still Alive
My first music video ever. Made in Windows Movie Maker 2, and, if the creator's opinion is of any importance, I think it's pretty good. Not great, mind you, but good.
Edit: Made a much better one over here

Hmm.. I didn't like it, sorry
It didn't really stand out as a first video either but keep on editing. There's much you can improve on.
Technically I thought it was nice you tried to place your cuts on something to actually make it sync, those places being lyrics. However, it was just sharp cuts all over and those few places any sync was present didn't make up for the overall dysfunctional flow. For this kind of a song, I'd suggest using more fades or something to make it smooth. Cuts are fine if you can use them for creating a sense of flow (which this video did quite poorly to be honest) but fades are deffinitely a sure and easier choice for this kind of songs.
And second of all, your clip selection was completely random. I mean, there simply wasn't anything that would have made sense in this video. There wasn't even any kind of mood sync, which made it look awfully disconnected. At least try to select your clips so they would go with the song mood-wise. It looks like as if you randomly selected a bunch of clips from this anime and added them on the timeline in a random order O.o It's not good...
This video also had some technical issues such as interlacing and aspect ratio problems. I'd suggest taking a look at the technical guides here on the org. Checking out other guides might not be a bad idea either.
I know WMM isn't exactly the best editing tool out there but it's not an excuse. I'm going to rate this 1/5 Sry
Better luck next time =)

Okay, so I suppose that I'm going to have to remake a lot of this video and do the following:
- Use fades where appropriate (pretty much the whole thing)
Choose clips that would work with the mood of the song instead of just those that would be represented in some obscure fashion by the lyrics (I'm guessing none of them should be 'serious' clips)
Filters, filters, filters, I need to do a lot of cleanup (didn't notice the interlacing before, so I'll get on that)
Figure out an appropriate aspect ratio (make it 848x480?)

This aims to improve well, tell us something important in the AMV, it is important that the video has a focus, an atmosphere, a story or an idea, I agree with Emong, scene selection is very bad, randomly and without any sense, this is the problem. If you work hard, it is certain to improve!
1/5...Mejor suerte!

I suppose that I was trying too hard to find clips that somehow vaguely related to the lyrics, and ended up using clips that didn't fit the atmosphere.Megamom wrote: This aims to improve well, tell us something important in the AMV, it is important that the video has a focus, an atmosphere, a story or an idea, I agree with Emong, scene selection is very bad, randomly and without any sense, this is the problem. Should I focus on humorous or non-serious clips, then?
Or add serious clips only for specific areas of the song where the mood is appropriate for such clips?
Should I make it centered around Takano?

Okay, scratch the fades, I probably won't be able to do fades; Movie Maker is giving me too much trouble already (and yes, I've looked at the FAQ, I've looked at various websites for different ways of fixing it), so I don't think it'll take much to make it freeze with the number of clips I have.
Edit: Finally found a way around this.

It depends on the concept you have in your mind. The feelings you associate the song with, etc. I see from your scene selection that you were trying to sync with the lyrics as much as possible without any overall concept. That's where the funny lyrics-sync AMVs like Dare to be Anime come from. Song used in that vid is an upbeat and humorous one, which makes the whole thing much easier. Your song on the other hand is a lot slower and kind of more serious so I'm not sure how pure comedy would work here. But you can try. There's nothing wrong with using both humorous and serious clips as long as it fits the flow/atmosphere and the whole video makes sense.Should I focus on humorous or non-serious clips, then?

I hope I was of at least a little help. Good luck in your struggle with the Movie Maker. And nerves of iron.
