Personally I didnt think the 23mb avi file was that bad Kev, but of course it can get better :) I will upload a higher quality one next time. Right now Im working on the scenes adding and subtracting and reworking things. I also made a higher quality version of the song, is 320kb/sec enough?
I really appreciate you guys giving me pointers about this, Id really like to make an AMV that *everyone* likes one of these days
Just keep in mind for future reference..
criticism is supposed to be constructive - not destructive...
I do appreciate feedback but I dont think you had to be so harsh, Kev :(
Anyways thanks! I will have a new version up in a few days probably

And... what? It's acutally quite average ... not something that would win any awards, but it does look good enough and works for contemporary viewing. Not all of us care about such things, if the theme of the video comes across.Kevmaster wrote:Please DONT LIE in your Descriptions. This Video Quality was more than horrible :/
Excessive Macroblocking through the whole Videos, wrong Aspect ratios, fuzzyness, etc.
Pozorrogo: Even though you could work a bit on tailoring your video sources to get more quality out of them, I really didn't mind the quality of this one. It's not the best quality, but it's not bad, either.
Sure, but the quality-size ratio is best with 128kbps, especially for general viewing. If this were something for convention play, then, yes, use the highest you can. But most people would still like it to be smaller in size than higher in quality.Kevmaster wrote:The Audio Quality was bad as well, 128 K/bits is a way too low bitrate, its the shitty quality you get with most downloads from illegal download softwares. And with a higher bitrate the audio can sound sooo much better.
Pozorrogo: For video releases just for general Org, go ahead and stick with 128kbps for your AVIs. It actually sounds quite good and comes through clearly. When you're ready, read up on how MP4 encoding works, so you can have video and audio quality with a nice filesize.
Overall, I liked it. I'm a fan of this type of slow video, and you communicated the romantic feelings well. Even though you should work on getting the video quality up a bit, I didn't think there were any real problems with it.
Solid 4/5 from me.

Thanks! I never know what to encode it as, so I tend to experiment with different settings until I find one that is decent quality
I will definitely try encoding to MP4 this next time! :P

And you are pretty wrong, actually most people do care a lot about the Quality and don't care for the file size.
I don't care how big the file is, as long as the quality is enjoyable.
If a Vid has sucky ass quality (no matter how good it is), I can't enjoy it a bit.
oh, and...
if your Video has 128 K/bits mp3, you can be happy if you get a 3-4/10 from me.
Looking at the Visual QUality of this Video I'd might throw out a 3/10, anything higher would just be ridicilous overrated.
Again, I am not saying anything about how the Video is edited, but about the Visual Quality problems (which are..obviously the biggest Issues with this Video).
How is telling someone what is wrong with his Video nothing good?shikai_li wrote: But also, I think you need to read the first rule as well.

Actually, It is Just the same quality-size ratio as a 320 K/bits, 320 K/bits sounds a hella lot better than 128 /Kbits and has a bit bigger file size, the ratio doesnt change there at all O.oGloryQuestor: wrote:Sure, but the quality-size ratio is best with 128kbps, especially for general viewing.

The problem with people not taking this seriously is that they would never improve. When someone posts a video here, the reason he or she did that is so they can receive feedback about what went wrong in the video and what went right, in order to better their work in the future. Kev happens to take video quality seriously (as do I, considering this site has a wealth of guides that pretty much walk you through step by step how to get better quality...) and because of that, now Pozorrogo's next video will most likely have better video quality due to complaints received on this one. Its about suggesting improvements to people and thats what Kev did here.....not very constructively, but I suppose it got the job done. (Also don't know how you can criticize Kev's form of critique when yours looks more like a poem than feedback....)
For future reference Pozorrogo, this website has a guide that can help you with your quality, you can view it here. (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtech/)
Now onto the video itself. I'd first probably say this is a bit too long for a simple concept. It was good, it worked concept wise, but started to feel a little boring around about 2:30 simply because it was just scenes of couples over and over with no real flowing/changing story. Sometimes for concepts like this you may want to look into shortening your song so the viewers don't get worn out on what they're watching
Next thing I wanna talk about is your brief description. You need to be specific about what your sources were instead of a list and then "maybe a few more". People like to know what you were working with when you did this, and it'll prevent the question "What anime is at *insert time here*?" In the future, or if you can now, please update this list so it lists all the animes you used. Please do this in future videos as well.
Well, thats pretty much all I have to say on this. If you ever have questions about your work or are looking for suggestions on something that you may be having trouble with, you can always PM me, or I have my AIM sn listed in my profile if you would like a faster response.
Oh! One quick last thing. Your text was a bit rough for a smooth romantic video like this. You need something calm and smooth, not something that seems pretty jagged and rough. I'd suggest maybe using a nicer looking font, and using a softer fade and softer motion (if any motion at all).
Not bad for a third video at all, I'd say this is a nice 3.5/5, quality issues aside. Keep up the good work, remember to have fun and don't take comments TOO personally, can't wait to see some more of your work! ^_^

I liked it a lot actually. As the previous posters have said, quality was below average and it did diminish the impact of the video on me. However this AMV clearly had thought put into it. The simple but effective editing was very good, just the way I like it. I'm looking forward to more videos from you.

Its fine to give constructive criticism, but not in a disrespectful nature.
In which case he came off a little bit harsh, which is semi-disrespectful and rude.
(And theres others that agree with me here.)
Thats all I was trying to say.
Now I know, no one owes anyone anything.
But everyone owes respect to one another as a decent human being.
And if anyone questions that, which is common-sense 101, then they're
just ignorant.
-- Bottom Line --
As Pozorrogo said: criticism is supposed to be constructive, not destructive.
And if Pozorrogo blew it off, then I guess there isn't a problem.
And this bickering matter is closed.
Lets just get back on topic.
-- To Pozorrogo --
I seriously did not want this topic to be blown way out
of proportion as it already has.
For that, I apologize.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Good luck on your future videos.
