Keeping Project files
Okay, I've noticed a tendency lately to keep my project files for completed videos, but added to the fact I have about five projects at any given time (with, on average, only one video being completed per year), the space consumed is starting to add up, making it difficult to continue projects or start new ones for want of space. And it's not like I lack the space. I have 500Gb internal alone.
So I'm curious, who else is a packrat? What do you suggest I do with the files for my completed videos? Is it worth keeping them around? My 2001/2003 videos I am remastering, but I'm happy with my 2004+ videos as is.

Yeah, I have a backups folder specifically for lossless files for conventions, but I meant other than that. Like individual stills and preview files and all sorts of little stuff like that...Bauzi wrote:I usualy keep my 2006+ releases. I put them on a DVD witht he looseless encode or I store them on my external hdd. For sure: keep the looseless file.
The rest is up to you.

Well the first thing I delete when I finished a project are the preview files and the sometimes really big "Adobe audio encode something for Premiere".
From stills I only keep screenshots that are usefull. For showing other people some stuff from the vids.

I like keeping stuff I do in Photoshop, but regular still frames will be deleted along with video files...
I also keep the Vegas project file but they take up hardly any room. So far I'm just storing them on my computer. Most of the image files and project files don't take up too much room for me, so it's not that big of a deal for me.
I highly doubt I'll ever go back and try to fix many of my old videos, and the ones I would want to fix, I would just want to restart from the ground up.

I keep all my project files but that could be why I have over a TB of Hard drive space on my computer right now. I just like keeping all of my projects just incase one day I want to go back and re-work them or to use them on a pannel.
No matter what, stay calm, stay cool and live life to the fullest.
Plus as Gene would say always go big in life.
