a-m-v.org Condones Art Theft?
i don't care if i lose this account over this, since i only created it to post this. There is, at least 1 that i know of, a banner utilizing someone's art. I contacted that person, when i saw it; they said the art was stolen and they had contacted AMV many times to take it down. Neither AMV nor the person who stole the art, Mike of the Desert, has taken it down at all; in fact, it became a worthy banner. Since the art is not taken down, does this mean that AMV condones such actions?

Not at all. The users of the site decide which banners are worthy and which aren't; if the creator of such a banner uses stolen art, there's not really any way the rest of the .org can know about it. Like Ileia said, if you see something like this happening, post a thread explaining what's going on in the Mod Drop Box forum and the mods will take care of it.tirachan wrote:i don't care if i lose this account over this, since i only created it to post this. Absolutely.Since the art is not taken down, does this mean that AMV condones such actions?
It's simply inconceivable that mail might go unnoticed. This site is run by an army of full-time system administrators who swoop onto this sort of stuff like vultures to a dead man.
Administration efforts are extensively instrumented; quality feedback is ongoing and instantaneous. Procedural adjustments are continuously made. There is clearly zero room for human error or delayed reaction in such a well-calibrated machine.
I suggest you immediately act on your conviction and do whatever is necessary to have the copyright holder of this terribly maligned artwork issue a DMCA takedown notice to this site, as it should now be clear that this site condones a system of laws, morals, and ethics which threatens to annihilate the fragile intellectual property of all humankind.

Actually vultures don't dive on a dead man as quickly as you'd think. They tend to waste time circling around in the air a lot to see if there are other predators around and to make sure the man really is dead. If you meant to convey that the administrators are quick a much better analogy would have been 'like Deviantart users taking insult'.trythil wrote:This site is run by an army of full-time system administrators who swoop onto this sort of stuff like vultures to a dead man.
As a total side note, in the future I'll have to remember to use 'like deviantart users not linking to the image they claim is stolen' as an analogy for stupid.

The administration can not do anything about this matter if the administration does not know anything about this matter. Send information about the affected banners to admin@animemusicvideos.org if you would like us to know something about this matter.
If email was sent about this in the past, give the date and I can see if it was overlooked somehow.
I see the item in the mod drop box, but it doesn't say what banners are affected.
trythil: Please put me in touch with this administration so they may replace us.

Fair enough. I'll remember to verify my similes next time.godix wrote:If you meant to convey that the administrators are quick a much better analogy would have been 'like Deviantart users taking insult'.trythil wrote:This site is run by an army of full-time system administrators who swoop onto this sort of stuff like vultures to a dead man.
They are like ninja in the night; it's very difficult to get in contact with them. I myself have only heard fanciful stories of their exploits. Nevertheless, I think it may be possible to contact the head of their dojo for a favor. I'll get back to you on that.dokidoki wrote:trythil: Please put me in touch with this administration so they may replace us.

Actually people have no control over their banners after they upload. The rest is in the hands of the "public".
