Some of us are professional editors already. I make Political Advertisments. I though Beo had been picked up by a movie studio. SQ is getting a degree in RTF.... I'm sure there are a few others.

I forgot about the likelihood of that. I assumed that most of you guys who were good had almost the same skill as a professional editor would anyway.

Editing for film/television/marketable-music-videos != Editing for AMVs. Having proficient skill in one side does not necessarily translate into the other.

I could see an interesting non-org contest being done here. Get ahold of royalty free footage (or make footage yourself) & footage from a live concert. Then a contest to see who can make the best video with a trivial prize live a free CD of the band or something. Pimp it on the org, live action LJ, etc.

It helps if you have an eye for it though Brad. But yeah its not a given this much is true.

Very true. The editing process for most things involve editing first-- music goes in when the editing is done.
