This video is gheeeeey.

And I mean, by that, it seems to have clear homoerotic overtones between the characters. It seems like some sort of seme/uke BDSM yaoi romance video. I have never seen gungrave, so I don't know if that's at all true, but it reminds me an awful lot of FAKE.

The editing was nice, if the scenes were meant to be all yaoish, you succeeded. If this was not supposed to be a manlove romance video, then I missed the point. To say I liked it would be a stretch. I'm not a fan of FAKE type homoeroticism (not a fan of male homoeroticism in general), and so I didn't find this very "romantic" on a personal level. I respect the effort, but it doesn't have a high review capacity for me.

Overall, I found it a tad trite and boring.

Sorry man,but Gungrave is about gangsters and not gays.If close friendship and feeling sorrow while killing a close friend is considered gay, then I live in a different world.

The two main characters are friends from kids and begin to climb up the stairs of a mafia organization until the one of them betrays the other. So,the main plot is about friendship, betrayal, justice and the laws of gangsters. And up until ep16 this anime is the most realistic anime ever.

Have you ever watched Godfather? If yes, this is what this anime is about...

I had no context, and admitted so. The visuals reminded me of FAKE, which was yaoi. Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if there were homoerotic undertones at least in the original source material. I'd have to watch GunGrave to be sure.

I must have misunderstood the song. It sure sounded like a love song to me. I'd, again, have to go find out the context of the source song and the artist's intent to make sure, but I'm pretty sure romance was a key factor in the song chosen. And since I didn't know any of the context behind the series, I automatically assigned the roles in the song to the two characters being featured.

Here are the lyrics:

"You've got alot to learn before I let you go
Theres things you need to see and things you need to know

They say,
We wont,
Make it.
What do they know?
They say,
We can't,
Do it,
But I've got to know..

And is it getting better?
Is it getting worse?
Was it ever worth it?
Was it just a curse?
and is it getting better now?
and is it getting better now?

You've got alot to do before I let you stay
Theres things you need to see and things you need to say

They say,
We wont,
Make it.
What do they know?
They say,
We can't,
Do it,
But I've got to know..

And is it getting better?
Is it getting worse?
Was it ever worth it?
Was it just a curse?
And is it getting better? (chorus)
Is it getting worse?
Was it ever worth it?
Was it just a curse?
and is it getting better now?
and is it getting better now?

You always talk too much, too little, too late, too much, too little, too late for me to figure out
You always talk too much, too little, too late, too much, too little, too late for me to figure out
(and) i still can't figure out..

(chorus)"

The lyrics speak about love but in this case they could - in a way - match the efforts of those 2 men to get out of poverty and rise up in the mafia.
Noone believed they could succeed but they managed to get high positions. But with high position came selfishness which destroyed their friendship and leaded to betrayal.
So the theme of the amv would be: "Was it really worth it all those sacrifices to gain power and money?"

Anyway, sorry for sounding a bit forceful, but I could never even think of Gungrave as gay anime.I may have thought of the same thing as you should I have not seen the anime though... :D :D

With that context in mind, it makes sense, but it still doesn't really move me.
