How long was it until you finished your second AMV?
Here I am again - asking pointless questions about the process of AMV editing because my latest project fell through and I feel like a total fool because I cannot compose a sophomore video for the life of me. XP
Okay, sarcasm aside. I am curious about how long it took for a lot of you to make your second video.
What was your motivation for doing so?
Did you have any scrapped projects in between your first and second video?
If so, then how many?
Inquiring mindless want to know. ;P

18 days...
My third video I actually started before my second.
A friend told me that the combination I chose had been done so I was going to drop it and then I started and I finished my second video...
later I looked up on the org to see if my third video had indeed been done and I didn't find a listing for the combination so I finished it 3 days after my second one.
my motivation: I liked what I was doing and was having fun with it.

Looks to be a little over three months:
Utena (Story of Girl) (2001-03-04)
Arima to Miyazawa (2001-06-14)
It is worth noting I just announced the remaster of said sophomore contribution. My motivation for doing a second video was that the first was well received, and I enjoyed editing. Also Kare Kano was new to American fans at the time, and Maboroshi had just produced Far And Away using the same source. There were no scrapped projects between my first and second video.

Re: How long was it until you finished your second AMV?
Responding mindless:
Scrapped projects which occurred before my first AMV: there were three, one of which I spent over 100 hours on with zip, nada, nothing to show for my efforts and one I would like to go back to, but I highly doubt I will. "Scrapped" projects just on the shelf for the time being number in the range of four.
My best advice would be to stick with it. I didn't care how long it took me to make my first AMV and, if I had, it would NEVER have gotten done.
I felt like a total fool for...three years? four?...because I couldn't get around to finishing my first video. That said, I'm not done with my second one yet, and I sincerely hope posting here is not going to curse my endeavor.macchinainterna wrote:Here I am again - asking pointless questions about the process of AMV editing because my latest project fell through and I feel like a total fool because I cannot compose a sophomore video for the life of me. Since I'm not done with my second one, but it could potentially be considered my third, here: so far it's taking me less time, editing-wise: I've got almost two out of four minutes of AMV done in a quarter of the time it took me to make an entire 2-minute AMV. Worse (that's the only word I can think of to describe it) I'm doing a lot more editing work, so technically speaking it's going even faster - which is good, because I'm very slow. Motivation-wise, I guess you could say that I'm a bit desperate to make the AMVs I've got in mind, because I know that the longer it takes me to get to them, the less likely it is they'll ever be made. A more serious answer is: attending anime conventions and viewing AMV competitions always, ALWAYS fires me up not only to make AMVs, but to do the very best I can with them.macchinainterna wrote:Okay, sarcasm aside.
