it means region
R1 is USA (and some other areas)
R2 is Japan (and some other areas)

btw, HD also has it's own region rules. I don't beleive HDDVDs have any Regions and Blu-ray only has 2... though I hear Blu-ray games carry the japanese dub as well if there is one.

Of coarse there is like 1 anime on HDDVD and 5 or something on Blu-ray. afaik

thismay or may not be your problem. about halfway down the page checkout o'full field blended' or 'partial field blended'. like i said, not a 100% that its whats wrong tho, just a possibility

I was always under the impression that you NEEDED FX in order to make a "Story". Then again we have allot of excuses to use FX these days. You don't hear me complaining thou. Now if only people could execute something proper ones in a while.
