Gungrave - Get Well Soon

Post by Blackiisky » Tue Nov 20, 2007 12:19 am

The song is called Get Well Soon by Reggie and the Full Effect. it was a song left stuck in my head by an ex girlfriend. so i did what i normally do with a song stuck in my head, start a video of it.

The outro song was merely because i was ina classical mood today :)

im no one great when it comes to editing. this started out as proving to myself i could sync beats and etc etc. so i did and realized it was too much, then i decided to cut back on some of it. i havent completed anything ina while due to many bumps in the road of life and computer issues. so i decided to take one project and get it done. hopefully i find myself improving from my other videos. i plan to, in the future, redo a lot of my older stuff *vids no one around these parts would know about heh*

i dont use Windows movie maker any more like i used to but i had and still have problems with vdub so Wmm was the easiest way to get my file compressed down to a tolerable size

Aww... WMV

read The Guides to help you to compress it to a more tolerable format like a HQ XviD file or a x264/mp4 file

anyway *gets* cause I said I would >.>

If you somehow hand me over a lagarith file, I am willing to do the compression for you (if you wont be able to find out how to do it by yourself).

Anyway, I'll get this even though its wmv when I come back.

It was pretty good. Editing was pretty nice. The only thing I didn't like were that the shakes were pretty chaotic and when you did the fades/blurs I felt that it would of looked better with just the fades. But overall it was pretty good 3/5 :D  , Will give you a full OP by Friday

This make pure lust to make another GunGrave amv. hehe.

3.5/5

A really good core amv. I mean the scene selection was really enjoyable for a GG fan like me. However I have something to add about the scenes. Personally I would drop out the "fighting mutants" parts out of the amv and place in more the character Bungie instead. He is a friend of Brandon and fits into the same theme if you ask me.

The editing. There are a lot of parts were I disagree. Let´s take the beginning until 0:16 What do I want more? Absolutly fine! Than you focus to much on the beats and not on the flow of the song itself imo. Too much unnecessary effects (invert) etc. just to match the beats. Eh. Than some finer parts like stopping - scene motion (but that would go too much into details now).
so i did and realized it was too much,
fine ;)

The black & white stuff or the missing contrast: Works if you don´t do it the whole video long. Why don´t you stop at a part? You could represent past and future with it etc. but it is in the whole video. Eh.

The videoquality: Pleasent for a .wmv, but yeah next time please mp4 or avi ok?

The auioquality: Unpleasent for me and I´m really not picky at the audio stuff. Only 7 or 6/10. Blame wmv...

Yeah that´s all I wanted to say. Keep on the work!

I use Premiere but as said id be more then happy to have it as an mp4 if vdub wasnt not messing up on me...to be more specific, it tells me

" Couldnt locate decompressor for format 'dvsd' (unknown). VirtualDub erquires a Video for Windows (VFW)) Compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable. Only 'Direct stream copy' is available for this video."

i dont have any different codecs or anything then i did before it was working...but maybe anyone has a suggestion???

when starting this video, it wasnt mean to even fit the anime at all, purely just syncing beats and i did, and took out a lot syncs cause i felt i was doing too much.

Thanks for the opinions and comments :) i always appreciate the time being taken to do so, negative or positive.

i have after effects to my disposal but always stray from using it cause im not familiar with it. took me acouple years before i decided to just jump into using premiere. so any thoughs are always appreciated :)

Wow, I really enjoyed this Video. I loved Feeling and the way of synching (I'm not sure why, but the Beginning felt a little akward though..or maybe I just needed to get into it..).

4/5 Gewd Job

And as a Question to try to fix your Problem: What Codec is the file you are saving out of your editing program?

According to Premiere its Microsoft DV AVI *compressor DV NTSC*, which i believe is the default for the program. though i tryed others such as huffy and lag and get the same error in vdub. i dont believe i have any other codecs installed other then what came with AMVapp.

Did you try to just save it as uncompressed?
