Yeah, when I first heard this song (however long ago) it definitely didn't really draw me in all that much, at least for the first two minutes. I'd actually toyed with the idea of cutting the first part shorter, but ended up leaving it alone since even though it was really slow, I liked the lyrics. *shrug* It's sort of the type of song where I tend to skip over the first part and just listen to the second half a bunch of times.Emong wrote:I knew this song and to be honest with you, I think it hasn't any other value than produce melatonin for you....The story was somewhat confusing but sometimes the mood sync is enough to fix that problem and that was the case here. I really liked the ending when the song got faster and the internal sync, shakiness and faster cuts kicked in.

Erk, that seems to be the big problem, doesn't it? Too be honest, I was sort of aiming more for mood than story, so I'm glad I got that to work. But yeah, .hack// (in all its wonderfulness) is this huge sprawling thing, and even I get confused sometimes. Next time I'll definitely try to make something a bit for coherent.meleechampion wrote:There was just too much stuff happening, and none of it was straightforward enough for someone who doesn't know who's who to understand any of it....On a more positive note, you nailed the mood and the sync was pretty tight.

'Fix You's' definitely not really the type of song that I'll just listen to for the sake of listening to it, but once I'd made myself sit down and actually hear the lyrics I could forgive the sort of boring start. Though I still tend to skip the first minute and half when I want to listen to the song, anyway, since I do enjoy the last half.omegaevolution wrote:I agree with Emong on the song, kinda not the best I have heard from Coldplay, but you made it work with .hack//G.U....it was understable (more for me than the rest that haven't played the game for sure). Really liked the editing overall and how it picked up later.

Sorry it couldn't hold your interest; it definitely started off a bit on the slow side.Kevmasterflashdeluxe wrote:I couldn't finish it, bored me too much, sry.

All Aces.
I got a little worried when I saw the song but after I watched it I was pleasantly surprised. The sync was so good you just had to be cheating...
I really enjoyed it, even though I haven't played any .hack. Everything just worked for me. The visual quality was a bit meh but that stuff doesn't usually bother me much.
Oh, and thanks for keeping the lip flap to a minimum.
Keeper.

Oh-ho WOW...this was BEAUTIFUL...I wasn't quite sure what was going on, but the mood was superb. I mean...man, you hit every aspect of this video for me. The sync was simply stunning - especially impressive is how much of it was internal sync; very satisfying indeed. Also, I'm a big fan of showing action scenes during slow parts of a song, though it needs to be done right to be effective - this video did that perfectly every time. The slow-mo got a little played-out in some places, but that's the only thing that bothered me throughout the whole video, and even that is only a very minor complaint. This one will be on repeat for the next few days...you totally made me love this song (which I wasn't too fond of beforehand).

It seems like most people went into this thinking 'oh man, not that song...' (I did too, to be honest...), but I'm glad you still enjoyed it! Syncing is very important to me when I make a video, and I worked really hard (Cheating?! I - I would never!Copycat_Revolver wrote:I got a little worried when I saw the song but after I watched it I was pleasantly surprised. I'm glad the internal sync worked out; it's a lot of fun to see it done right since I think it helps make a video move better, but I was a little worried. I can understand how the slow-mo stuff can really start to wear on you, since it did go on for so long (I considered trimming the first half a little shorter to take some of that out, but I just couldn't decide what should go, since I did like the lyrics...next time I'm definitely going to find a song that doesn't have two minutes of slow-ness...CrackTheSky wrote:The sync was simply stunning - especially impressive is how much of it was internal sync...The slow-mo got a little played-out in some places...you totally made me love this song (which I wasn't too fond of beforehand).

Good one!! I was really fond of the action syncs you used; every motion was perfectly timed. The editing itself was simplistic but highly effective. Simple is better IMO. Song choice was pretty iffy though. I liked the mood you set, but some scenes had too much action for such slow parts. When the song picked up though, it worked great. Quality was excellent. Some minor interlacing, but that can be fixed with a quick pass through Vdub. Overall, excellent story, and great editing =
I wasn't planning on watching this before, but I'm glad I did.

The song wasn't too offsetting at all. The mood sync more than made up for it.Aeri wrote:Yeah, for all I enjoy watching (and sometimes makingEpical Zamora wrote:The editing itself was simplistic but highly effective...Song choice was pretty iffy though. I wasn't sure that song would fit all that well, but I really liked the feel of it (especially the last half), so I went with it. Hopefully it wasn't too off-putting. I actually haven't been able to use Vdub since I'm working on a Mac computer; is there an equivalent you know of that can help me? That's always been a problem for me...
Anyway, thanks for the comments!
I don't know of any Vdub alternatives... but I'm pretty sure Final Cut has a deinterlace filter, if that's what you're using.
