avi is only a container. So wich avi codec do you use?

I recommend: HuffYUV or Lagarith. Both work in Sony Vegas and both are looseless for a high quality output in the end.

.. don't feel too bad; I tryed using AVISynch a while ago to take .rmvb files to "anything" but it never work! According to a few web pages it can be done. According to my experiments, even with their advise on how to do it, I've never created a useable file from an .rmvb

.. there must be a simple answer to this problem .. a solution would be helpful!

You can has solution now. :3

It's not a great one, but I have found that Super (which I would normally not recommend) is capable of converting rmvb to avi (or anything else for that matter). Total Video Converter might be capable of it as well, but I haven't tried yet.

You should convert it to avi with a huffy or lagarith codec.

But assuming that your using divx/xvid clips{which you should not use since they lag and can break vegas} you need to open the xvid folder then find the program "Nics FourCC Changer" then drag/drop all your episodes in there switching xvid to divx, then they should work on vegas
