well, see... I tend to know more about me than them. But it all depends on who you're making the amv for, are you trying to be like your friend and making it for an audience and hopefully for profit? Or are you just making it because you can -_-. The former is me, I get bored, I make AMV, I don't care if I slaughter it *_*.Pas1990 wrote:the people making the music understand more about it than me.
everyone edits the video, but what about the audio?

Not to any great degree for me. I've faded out songs earlier that were too long or had outtros that were pointlessly long so I end the video early. Also I've cut out portions of songs in the middle because I just don't like part of it for various reasons. I don't do more than that though.

How does this sound:Pas1990 wrote:Indeed. I see AMVs as a synthesis of video and audio, with the only limit on what transformations you can do to either input is, well, what you personally can do.
If editing the audio helps you to achieve whatever goal you're going for, do it. If it doesn't, don't do it.
Just about every video I've done since "always" has involved audio manipulation to varying degrees, ranging from simple cuts to additional sampling and sequencing work.

thanks for the feedback everyone. I agree that a lot of songs i really wouldnt touch as they are fine the way they are (i wouldnt be listening to them if that wasnt the case). However, after a bit more testing with this song im using it really does sound better when manipulated a bit. The original song was sung very slowly and by a rather deep voiced woman. When speeded up just a tad the music flows just a bit faster (which actually sounds better imo) and the woman sounds as if she was much younger, which actually fits well into the mood i wanted from the song.
I'm happy that i wasnt the only one to think of stuff like this, seems like a lot of people got ahead of me on that

An unfortunate amount of posters didn't read/understand this sentence.Jasta85 wrote:I dont mean cutting out a verse or blending two songs together, i mean actually changing the sound of the song itself.

It's good to stay away from it, as some songs just sound awful when edited. It's very difficult to blend the sounds right and make it flow.
Very rarely, you'll have a song that just lends itself to editing; make a single trim and bam, it sounds great. But if you're having trouble, just quit. Usually you should just try to work with what you have.
