Do you think that's bad? Here (where I live) they translated Kira as "the killer" (and it's annoying :x)

You mean they un-translated "Killer" to "Kira"?
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

there are some dubs out there that are great, some where you gotta get used to a voice or two, and some that are........dead awful, oughta be taken out back and shot, and it would be better to read the manga, no matter if the anime is amazingly accurate.

all we really have to do is find out which catagory deathnote will fall under
whats kainda funny is that Ed's 5'6", and he's taller than me. ............and he's called short..............*sigh*

I just fear that TV Globo buys it off and brings it to Brazil with the voice of Ash Ketchum as Light.

I can't remember the kid's name, but the same guy has dubbed Ash, Shaoran from CCS, the annoying brat lead kid from BeyBlade, Kuririn in DB/Z and the red-eye emo kid in Naruto.

*snicker* Sorry... that's just.... amazingly accurate and amusing.
That said, it would be nice if the dub for DN was good - but I'm not holding out much hope after seeing the trailer.

Well, there are at least three good things that they did:

1.They didn't translate Light into "Raito." I would have just thrown up if that had happened.
2. Shinigami=Shinigami. Not Soul Reaper or Grim Reaper. Shinigami. Although, I think I may have been happier with "Death God." Just sounds cooler.
3. They got Ryuk's laugh down right. His normal voice isn't the best, but at least he still laughs just the way it was meant to be (I suspect they may have imported original audio).

Meanwhile, all of my friends who are seeing Death Note for the first time are very interested and eager for more.

There's none of this Near and Mello bullshit,
I thought Near's team was actually much more impressive than Ls. ALthough L is probably the more inept one, The Japanese Police force working with him handicapt him quite alot, while in contrast, Nears team fully trusted him and cooperated without question.

They also kinda rushed that arc in the anime I've heard, Especially Mello, he and some of the other side characters are apparently much more impressive in the manga.

The anime rushed the second part a lot, but L is still the major badass in the manga. Near and Mello together couldn't reach his level.

I personally prefer the contrast between Near and Mello, and the anime really made a laugh out of Mikami, I took that guy seriously in the manga but with all the exaggerations he pulled off in the anime i was just rofl
